Montreux Jazz Festival: Montreux (July 5– 20)

Established in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has since become a hub for jazz, soul and blues music lovers from around the world. Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva, the city provides the perfect backdrop for a truly unforgettable musical experience. In recent years, artists specialising in other forms of music have also found a spot in the two-week festival calendar. Muse, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Adele, Lady Gaga, Tyler The Creator, Lizzo, Rita Ora are among the stars who’ve performed here and who’ve honoured legends who have played before them at the venue.

In its 50-year history, Montreux has hosted iconic performances by artists including Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Elton John, Deep Purple, Freddie Mercury and Stevie Wonder. Each year, around 250,000 spectators visit the venue to enjoy the breathtaking setting and partake in concerts with renowned acoustics and numerous free stages.

What’s new this year? Over 500 free activities on 15 stages await you at the 58th Montreux Jazz Festival! The Festival is also celebrating its return to the Casino, a significant venue in the event’s history. Ash, Black Coffee, Kenya Grace, Good Neighbours, Faraj Suleiman, Ron Trent, Aupinard, Lakecia Benjamin, Roni Kaspi, Sid Sriram, Jersey, Elmiene, Wasia Project, Venna, Corto.Alto, S.Pri Noir, Yuston XIII, Merveille, Zaoui, Maëlle, Anaïs Mva, Joseph Kamel, Poppy Fusée, Marcel Dettmann, Darwin etc. are among the list of artists performing at this year’s festival.

Paléo Festival: Nyon (July 23-28)

The Paléo festival is among Switzerland's most popular music festivals and also one of Europe’s biggest open-air festivals attracting the most ardent fans and the most loved international artists. This major musical event in Europe offers six days and six nights of unadulterated music shows across all genres.

The 45 year-old Paléo Festival de Nyon is located on an 84-hectare site with seven stages, over 200 stands and more than 50 bars! In the past Miles Davis and Bob Dylan have performed at the festival along with other greats like Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden, Elton John, Rammstein, Sting, Johnny Hallyday and The Cure who’ve visited the festival.

This year, Sam Smith, Sean Paul, Burna Boy, Booba and Patti Smith, to name a few, are among the 200 artists who form part of the exciting line up. The festival comes to a close on Sunday evening with an eagerly-awaited, magical fireworks display.


Blues to Bop: Lugano (July 18-21)

For all the ‘blues’ fans, Switzerland's longest-running blues festival is just around the corner! The 34th edition of the Blues to Bop festival that has celebrated this genre of music in Lugano since 1989, is set to go live this year again through three days of engaging music, free concerts and in-depth cultural encounters with the artists, all with free admission.

Every summer, Blues to Bop offers a rich and varied programme of concerts while also celebrating local and international performers in the city’s squares. The concerts are accompanied by in-depth discussions with the artists. Each year, an itinerary in Afro-American music is offered, ranging from archaic blues to the dawn of modern jazz, expressing ramifications, styles and new interpretations.

Eiger Music Festival: Grindelwald (July 6)

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, the Eiger Music Festival will take Grindelwald by storm with its eclectic lineup of artists. The music will be accompanied by a wide range of culinary delights presented by various hotels in Grindelwald. This year’s line-up includes artists like Reto Burrell, the Swiss musician who combines rock, pop, country, folk and blues to create his very own Americana style. Marc Amacher will be headlining the concert with his true blues, original boogie-woogie and authentic rock ’n’ roll music. The Dancing Queens - the Abba tribute band from Switzerland will round off the evening and start off a good-humoured summer night party with original cult hits. There will be music ‘for everyone’ to dance and sing along to.
