Karuna Pandey, known for her roles in serials like Devanshi and presently Puspa Impossible, surprised her fans by participating in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Ja. However, the actress says she tried her best to entertain the audience despite working on a daily. "I didn't have time to rehearse for my performances as I was also shooting for Pushpa Impossible," shared Karuna, adding, "My choreographer was not able to choreograph our acts properly.
I used to reach for rehearsals after wrapping up my shoot in the night. I wanted to do this show despite the time crunch because I wanted my present show Pushpa to get the required push by participating in Jhalak...Also, I always loved dancing though I am not a trained dancer. Had I had the time to rehearse I would have tried other dance forms as well. I am happy that I performed for 14 weeks on the show."
A debatable topic today is that most celebrity-based reality show winners are chosen based on the fan following on their social media handles rather than their journey on the show. Ask Karuna about this and she says, "The best part about doing a reality show is that the audiences get to know an actor with their real identities and who we are, which is a major plus point. Manzil tak pahunchna hi zaroori nahi hota, safar bhi zaroori hota hai. So it is not just about winning, it is also about participation and one's experience while on the show. In fact, I also earned a decent amount every week on the show apart from learning different dance forms. Yes, the winning amount and the trophy will be won by just one, and that is destiny."
Part of Pushpa Impossible for more than a year and a half now, Karuna says she didn't anticipate it to be such a popular show. "Pushpa Impossible is a very real show because of its writing and execution. It gives me the feel of the old good shows that were aired on television at one time. When I had signed the show I knew it was going to be a good show because the makers are very good but I didn't anticipate it to be a commercially viable show also with all generations liking it," she says.
Married to actor Rutwij Vaidya, Karuna, who in her last interview with us had shared that she didn't intend to extend her family says, she still sticks by that. "I have three animal kids and I still don't want to extend my human family. I have a lot of plans to do something for the voiceless and want to concentrate more on this plan," she says.
