high court granted relief to former BJP minister CN Ashwath Narayan in a case filed against him by the Congress government. The case was related to his alleged remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, made during a campaign rally leading up to the May 10 assembly polls. Justice M Nagaprasanna stayed operation of the FIR for four weeks. "What merits consideration now is whether the facts would meet the ingredients of Section 153,”the Court observed. The IPC section deals with someone provoking others with an intent to cause riots. The FIR was registered by the Devaraja police in Mysuru after the Congress government assumed power on May 20. The allegations were connected to the remarks made by the former minister during a rally in Mysuru in February. Additionally, Narayan, who represents Malleshwaram in the assembly, was also charged under IPC Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
