Odisha Train Accident: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury says SC should appoint team of experts to probe into matter

Amid the Centre appointing the CBI to investigate the Odisha train tragedy, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on June 08 in Delhi demanded a team of experts instead and said that the SC should appoint these experts. He further raised questions and concerns over the CBI not knowing enough about the technical issues that led to the catastrophe. “What will the CBI do in this? This all is technical, and only rail-related people can know what is going on. The Centre and Railways should take responsibility for all this. The investigation should be done by the experts and SC should appoint the experts,” Chowdhury said. The CBI is currently investigating the Odisha’s Balasore train tragedy of June 02 that claimed more than 270 lives and left nearly 1000 injured. Compensation for the victims and their families has also been announced, meanwhile, an investigation into the matter is underway. However, the Opposition is constantly hitting the Centre over the handling of the issue and also demanded the resignation of the Union Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
