Two years of Covid-19 pandemic: Why European countries are enforcing vaccine mandates

European governments are facing a new challenge in dealing with the latest Covid-19 surge. Even as the countries have no shortage of vaccines, vaccination rates have stagnated and vaccine hesitancy seems to have taken roots. Data shows that the unvaccinated have higher rate of serious illnesses and death if infected with Covid, and this means that governments are doing all they can to ensure higher vaccination rates. Now, several European governments have taken the vaccine mandate route to ensure that more and more people get vaccinated. But this has also resulted in a backlash from sections of the population.
