“Hope our friends in Canada, India will resolve this matter together…” USA amid India-Canada row

Diplomatic tensions between India and Canada are at an all-time high after PM Trudeau’s allegation against India. Partner nations such as the US, UK, and Australia have expressed concerns over the ‘serious allegation’ on countless occasions. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently said that the US hopes “that both Canada, and India will work together to resolve the matter”. Notably, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau accused India of being behind the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada’s Surrey in June 2023. India designated Hardeep Singh Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020. India has rejected the allegations made by Canada as "absurd" and "motivated".
