Taha Shah urges the audience to give Shamin Segal a break amid trolling for 'Heeramandi': This is just her starting point...
A lot has been said about Sharmin Segal's performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut OTT series 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' and her co-star Taha Shah Badussha says that it is high time people give her a break. He defended the actress, who is facing trolls and has also been dragged into the nepotism debate since she is the niece of SLB.
Revealing how his parents also logically evaluated Sharmin's performance, Taha told Puja Talwar, "They have picked on her and whoever I have spoken to, I have made it a point to say that… We are nobody to talk about the audience, but I can talk about people, who are close to me, like my mom and dad.
They have come up to me and shared logical explanation as to how her performance was and it made complete sense. I was with her on set for almost 100-110 days. I have seen her put her best foot forward."
Recalling that they spent more than 100 days together on the set, Taha added, "When we would discuss the script, she would actually be able to point out logical explanation to something which should not be there. She was an AD to Bhansali initially, she did Malal before and then got into this. She knows his process of working and also went through the whole script. I have always seen her come up with great ideas, put her best foot forward. So I would plead that people give her a break. She is still young in the industry, and I know that this is just her starting point. I really hope they take it easy on her."
'Heeramandi' released on May 1 and also featured Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Fardeen Khan, among others.
