An extensive auction of Diana memorabilia, the largest since the late British princess sold many outfits months before her death, will take place in California. The collection includes items like a midnight blue tulle dress, a flamenco-style lace-up gown, and nearly fifty pieces such as shoes, handbags, and hats, all to be auctioned in Beverly Hills.
A midnight blue tulle strapless gown by Murray Arbeid, worn by Diana on three occasions in 1986 and 1987- including the premieres of "The Phantom of the Opera" and a dinner with King Constantine of Greece, as well as a Royal Opera House performance of Cinderella - is expected to reach up to $400,000 (£315,000) at auction. 1987 Victor Edelstein magenta silk and lace evening dress 8 worn by Diana in London and Germany in 1987, is also expected to reach the top estimate of the auction.
A pink floral silk shirt dress designed by Walker, which Diana wore to prince William’s sports day at Richmond Stadium in 1988 as well as leaving prince Harry’s school in Notting Hill in 1992, has a top estimate of 200,000 dollars (£158,000).

Nolan called Diana a "princess of economics," often repeating gowns not just for environmental reasons but also to promote emerging designers like Edelstein, Charles, and Walker, all featured in the auction.
Along with items of high couture, the sale will also include shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo, Kurt Geiger and Rayne, as well as letters in Diana's own handwriting, along with a number of other items connected to the British royal family.

The auction showcases over 20 handwritten letters, notes, and holiday cards from Diana, highlighting her kindness and the happiness of her marriage, according to Martin Nolan.
