'AI isn't biased, it's the people creating the model.' 🧠 Unveiling the Truth: Navigating AI Bias 🔍 Yesterday, our talented community events teams across the regions hosted an insightful discussion on AI bias, featuring a keynote from Toju Duke, founder of Diverse AI and author of "Building Responsible AI Algorithms." Toju's insightful keynote explored the rapid advancements in AI technologies, emphasising the need to test for societal and algorithmic risks, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks during AI adoption. She highlighted: "AI technologies are moving at breakneck speed and offer tremendous benefits to industries, economies, and society. It's of great importance, however, to test for societal and algorithmic risks and harms, while implementing mitigation strategies to address identified risks during AI adoption." Following the keynote, a panel discussion chaired by Professor Jack Grieves from the University of Birmingham explored AI bias further. Key points included geographical and linguistic bias, political bias, and gender bias, with a consensus that the responsibility lies with those creating the models rather than the AI itself. Panelists included: Saile Villegas, Seeai Chris Alderson, AND Digital Abinaya Sowriraghavan, Aston University Peter Ross, Lokulus Oyinkasola Adebayo, Niyo Group The discussion concluded that addressing AI bias requires acknowledging human biases in model creation. #AIBias #ResponsibleAI #Innovation #TechEthics #BruntwoodSciTech #EnterpriseWharf #AI #Technology
