Wow, what a week! We are still catching our breath, but it’s been a phenomenal few days in London for tech. Over the week, London Tech Week has welcomed 45,000+ delegates from over 145 countries, as we showcased to the world why the UK capital is the #1 tech hub in Europe. Here are just a few of our many highlights: ✨Our Grow London team, who help high growth tech businesses to grow, marked their first year anniversary meeting hundreds of delegates; from London scaleups looking for help in their international expansion to international founders looking to London for opportunities. ✨ Our MD of Grow London, Janet Coyle CBE hosted the panel ‘Does place matter? Where to found a startup and how to go global.’ Speakers Mohammed Al-Emadi, Bing Xiang, Yoram Wijngaarde, & Minette Navarrete came together with talent and investors considered two of London and the UK’s strongest assets from a founders’ point of view. ✨ We heard from Mike Mattacola and Ghislain de Juvigny at the exclusive Maddyness and London & Partners Podcast, 'Le Ecosysteme' about the power of networks in supporting growth and why London shouldn’t compete with Silicon Valley. ✨ Our Grow London Global scaleups took to the pitch stage with Janet Coyle CBE, Managing Director of Grow London and Sara French, Director of Trade & Growth at Grow London. Since launching Grow London Global last year, we have so far supported 400 London tech companies to go international – with 85% of our graduated companies so far increasing their export revenue. Check out the 10 companies & their key takeaways in our day 3 blog linked below! ✨ In a very special celebration we brought together tech leaders and innovators from around the world at Somerset House, hosted by our CEO Laura Citron and Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Laura Citron, said “We believe that our competitive advantage in the long run is in having a tech ecosystem that is more open, inclusive accessible and welcoming than anywhere else in the world.” Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said: “We are a city open to innovation, talent, ideas and all people across the world.” But this is just the tip of the iceberg... Our Grow London team have pulled together a blog for each of the days detailing all the events, panels, pitches and more so you can dig into the detail even if you weren't able to be there yourself: Day 1 - https://bit.ly/4ckVtRc Day 2 - https://bit.ly/45oeekA Day 3 - https://bit.ly/4ejeTb3 Make sure to follow Grow London for all the capital's latest business news, events and reports, and if you didn't get the chance to meet with the team, don't worry. London Tech Week 2024 has landed! 🌠 After much anticipation, London's annual celebration of tech and talent has commenced at Olympia Events. London & Partners co-founded London Tech Week 10 years ago building on London’s growing reputation as a hub for tech innovation.   Now in its 11th year, London Tech Week is THE platform for global founders, investors and tech leaders to come together to collaborate, connect and gain industry insights.   This morning saw Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan give opening remarks followed by our very own Janet Coyle CBE, MD of our high growth business brand Grow London. 50 days from the opening ceremony of Paris 24, our CEO Laura Citron hosted a press conference on the legacy of the 2012 Olympics, with opening remarks from Deputy Mayor Howard Dawber. Our expert panellists Rosanna Lawes, Tim Reeve, Gavin Poole, & James Kaguima shared how culture, community and innovation formed the pillars of London’s Olympic legacy. Some key takeaways: ⭐ The Olympic Park is a product of collaboration – none of the individual parts could work without the other to deliver the overall legacy ambition of the 2012 Olympics. ⭐ The legacy of the Olympics has changed the economic life of this part of East London - with thousands of jobs created at HereEast and in the wider park and retail areas. ⭐ Legacy is a long-term game and requires commitment over decades –while the sporting venues have been open and thriving for some years, with the stadium hosting everything from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Major League Baseball, there’s still a whole cultural quarter to come with the opening up of EastBank. Thank you to London Legacy Development Corporation and to our great panellists for their insights. Looking forward to a fantastic summer of sports!

‘Let’s Do London’ for London & Partners 🇬🇧 The campaign that took off in 2021 and ROI gets better every year 🛫🧳 This is the story of how we attracted incremental international visitor spend to London to fast-track recovery of the UK’s visitor economy after COVID-19. Let’s Do London has generated a combined 1.16 million additional visitors and £508 million in additional visitor spend. Having delivered a return on investment of 18:1 in 2021, 28:1 in 2022, and 52:1 in 2023 - we have achieved consecutive years of YoY ROI growth for the London’s tourism industry. How did we do it? 🟠 Insight. Working closely with our Audience Intelligence team, Wavemaker extracted activation insights directly able to help optimise our media strategy. 🟠 Data. By analysing and segmenting potential travellers, we identified growth audience opportunities and optimal flight windows to maximise outcomes. 🟠 Creative. Through pairing ‘core’ asset variations with authentic voices from influencer-produced assets, we promoted London in ways most likely to resonate with our different audience segments. 🟠 Touchpoints. Evolving our model in step with audience consumption habits, successful pilots across Connected TV, Spotify, and TikTok were identified to unlock incremental reach and impact. 🟠 Partnerships. Teaming up with Tripadvisor and Expedia to expand our campaign ‘owned’ platform footprint, we created original branded content to help build credibility and interest. Edward Fall, Senior Client Partner at Wavemaker, said: “From securing marquee billboards in Time Square to delivering tailored audio spots within London-centric music playlists - we are proud to have delivered standout ROI through blending complimentary media tactics.” Eliza Ferguson, Head of Consumer Marketing at London & Partners, said: “London & Partners, key stakeholders, and the wider London leisure industry are very proud of this campaign and the results achieved. We look forward to continuing our work with Wavemaker, to deliver positive impact and growth for London." Thanks to all our partners, especially: Ronan Francis, Romane Gomez, Simon McCaugherty and wider London & Partners colleagues involved in driving the success of the campaign, John Duku, Danielle Walbrook, Alex Lemecha-Sim, and the wider M&C Saatchi Group team, and Karen Morris and the wider TMW Unlimited team. #media #advertising #campaign #tourism

In case you missed it, we were delighted to see London ranked as #1 for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Europe in EY’s latest Attractiveness Survey.    It showed that overseas investment projects in London climbed by 20 per cent in 2023 to hit 359. It also showed that foreign investment has created over 50,000 jobs in the UK, more than in any other country in Europe. London gives access to the best talent, funding, customers, and networks all in one place. Its convenient time zone also makes it easy to do international business and the city doesn’t hold back when it comes to creativity, diversity, and innovation either - meaning new ideas can really take off.   Our team at London & Partners are proud to be attracting innovative international companies to London to scale their business, helping to create jobs and growth for the London economy. We support them to choose London over other international competitor cities and with our network of partners, help them to expand and set up here.    Take a look at our CEO Laura Citron's City AM comment here:
