I worked towards the synthesis of biologically-active, complex natural products. The project involved collaborations with two post-doctoral researchers and two other doctoral students. Beyond research, I was also involved in writing and editing Bang! science magazine and the Oxonian Review. I also co-founded Oxford Transhumanists, a student group to discuss the future of humanity. With some doctoral students, I also developed an iPhone app called Relaxing Stories. Show less

The four-year undergraduate program is one of the top chemical engineering degrees offered in India. The first year was common to all, but the number of elected subjects start increasing from the second year. Coursework involved core chemical engineering subjects, physics, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry and specialised pharmaceutical sciences subjects.

After the third year, I completed a summer project under Professor Iain Coldham at the University of Sheffield. The project was funded by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. I also founded a student-run institute magazine, called The Spirit, which lives, albeit on the internet and not on paper.

Located in the heart of Mumbai, the Institute of Chemical Technology has been ranked among the best research institutes in the country, outdoing even the Indian Institutes of Technology. Show less
