In a first, orangutan seen using plant to heal injury

Scientists have observed a never-before-seen behaviour by a wild orangutan. Rakus, a Sumatran orangutan in Indonesia, was seen self-medicating using a paste made from plants to heal a large wound on his cheek. Primatologist Dr Isabelle Laumer, the lead author of the research, provides insights into this unprecedented event.
