It was a moment of honour for Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar when President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa congratulated her and the Miss World team for successfully opening South Africa's first biodegradable sanitary pad manufacturing plant in Mveso, which is the birth place of Nelson Mandela on his 100th birthday.
Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa was leading the official ceremony of unveiling the first Sanitary Towel Machine which was installed in South Africa. The ceremony was a huge success and Nelson Mandela's birthday celebrations started by handing out 200 blankets and winter hats to the elderly at the newly opened health centre in his home village Mvezo.
The Miss World team will replicate the project in at least two other countries namely Kenya and Rwanda.
