A home-cooked meal, dhol and selfies for Varun Verma as he returns to Delhi
I am finally home, I am overjoyed to be back to my city,” said Mr India Supranational 2019 Varun Verma as he arrived at the Delhi airport on Monday morning after winning the title in Mumbai last week. Family members, friends and gym buddies welcomed him with placards that read, “Varun, we love you” and “Varun, we are proud of you”, garlands, sweets and warm hugs.

Long before Varun landed, his friends and family waited patiently at the airport for his arrival. Once he landed, the terminal was buzzing with people clicking selfies and photos with him. After receiving a warm hug from his parents, Varun’s friends lifted him on their shoulders for a fun photo-op. “I am extremely happy and overjoyed to be back in my city. I never thought that I will get such a warm welcome at the airport. It is an amazing feeling to be home with my friends and family,” said Varun.

As he reached home, he was welcomed by dhols and a small get-together. “Now that I am back, I want to eat bhindi and paneer cooked by my mother. I have been craving for them from the last 15 days. She is the best cook,” he said.Thanking his friends for all their support, Varun said, “My friends are my life, they are the reason why I never wanted to leave Delhi. But now when I am in Mumbai, these are the people who are very close to my heart and I have such nice memories of them.”

While his mother Neena Verma was overjoyed cooking a meal for her son, his father Laxman Das Verma said, “It feels great when your kids achieve something like this. I am so proud of him. He should now work on winning the Mr Supranational title.”Priyanka Singh, a proud sister, added, “I want him to win the international title for our country now.”He also attended a press conference at Aloft New Delhi Aerocity, venue partner, with Miss Diva Supranational 2019 Shefali Sood. After meeting his friends and family on the first day of his homecoming, Varun finally got the chance to let his hair down and celebrate his win with his loved ones at a gala dinner. The dinner, hosted by his family, was attended by his girlfriend, gym buddies, relatives and friends. A cake-cutting ceremony was also organised by his friends and family at the dinner to celebrate his victory.
