Beauty queen Harveen Kaur Veena conquers Mera Peak, loses finger to frostbite
Malaysian beauty queen Harveen Kaur Veena has achieved a remarkable feat by scaling Mera Peak, her second conquest in just seven months, albeit losing a finger to frostbite. The peak, standing tall amidst the majestic Himalayan range in Nepal at 6,470 meters above sea level, presented a formidable challenge even for the most seasoned climbers.

Accompanied by a Sherpa guide, the 44-year-old embarked on this arduous journey and successfully reached the summit on April 11. This achievement follows her historic ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, where she reached the Uhuru peak at an elevation of 5,895 meters on September 24 last year.

Despite encountering steep terrains and rough weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and temperatures dropping to -25 /-27 degrees Celsius, Harveen persevered. She described the climb as a significant challenge due to the steep terrain, extreme altitude, and glacier travel, especially since she had only started climbing a year ago.

Harveen's determination and resilience have not gone unnoticed. Her remarkable accomplishment on Mount Kilimanjaro earned her a prestigious place in the Malaysia Book of Records as the 'First Beauty Queen to Summit Mount Kilimanjaro'. Harveen, who won the Mrs. Malaysia World 2017 title, is already planning her next summit, aiming to conquer another mountain in December.

Reflecting on her experience, Harveen recounted the harsh conditions she faced during the climb to Mera Peak, especially the intense cold that led to the loss of her left middle finger to frostbite. Despite this setback, her indomitable spirit remains undeterred as she sets her sights on future challenges in the world of high-altitude mountaineering.
