Former beauty queen outraged by last-minute removal as the judge for Miss Philippines Earth 2024
Ex-beauty queen and physician Ana Monica Tan, who was slated to serve as a judge at the Miss Philippines Earth 2024 pageant, expressed outrage over her abrupt removal from the panel. Tan, known for her title as Miss Kuyamis 2018 and Miss Philippines Air 2019, was informed of her removal just a day before the grand coronation night held in Talakag, Bukidnon.

Tan's lawyer, Jeffrey Saclot, revealed that she received a phone call from the event's production head on May 10, in which she was informed without explanation or apology about the sudden change. Saclot condemned the organizers' actions as unprofessional and disrespectful, which reflected poorly on their handling of the event and its participants.

Despite being formally invited and clearing her schedule for the event, Tan was removed without prior notice. Screenshots of text messages between Tan and the production head, shared by Saclot, showcased Tan's disappointment and frustration at the situation.

Saclot took the matter to Peachy Veneracion, Carousel Production's vice president. After that, the organizing committee apologized for the "miscommunication" and extended another invitation to Tan. However, feeling insulted and hurt, Tan did not respond to the messages.

The incident has left Tan considering legal action against the pageant organizers. Rappler reached out to Veneracion for a statement but has yet to receive a response.

Despite the controversy, the Miss Philippines Earth 2024 pageant concluded with Irha Mel Alfeche of Matanao, Davao del Sur, being crowned as the winner. Alfeche will represent the Philippines at the upcoming Miss Earth 2024 in Vietnam.
