Aptly known as Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan is one of the most successful, globally acclaimed, and influential actors in the Indian film industry. Known for his craft and unique modus operandi when it comes to his performances, Khan has taken method acting to new levels. Starting as a boy-next-door with rom-coms such as Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993) and Andaz Apna Apna (1994), he has grown as an actor across his 30-year-long journey in Bollywood to give us such masterpieces as Sarfarosh (1999), Lagaan (2001), and Rang De Basanti (2006).

Khan turned producer for one of his most successful movies Lagaan, which was also selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars in 2001. He proved himself to be a visionary director with his 2007 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, a movie that not only had brilliant performances but also touched upon the much-neglected subject of dyslexia. It’s no secret that it is Aamir Khan who introduced Bollywood to its 100-400 crore collection clubs.

Alongside his movies, Khan chose to be a part of the small screen as host of the widely-acclaimed Satyamev Jayate, which reflected on socio-economic issues. He was also closely involved with the making of the show and received adulation and critical acclaim for its concept and execution. The actor has also been vocal on societal issues and has not shied away from voicing his opinion about subjects related to politics. Indeed, his eye for detail and his choice of unconventional and groundbreaking projects make him legendary.

For his excellent body of work as an actor, director and producer, the global icon has received four National Film Awards, the prestigious Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010. Khan is now set to release the much-anticipated Laal Singh Chaddha, an adaptation of Forrest Gump, and audiences can’t wait to be enthralled.
