When in doubt, dance it out. That seems to be the mantra that Norway’s famous dance group Quick Style operates by

Contrary to popular belief, cover shoots with celebrities can get a tad monotonous. What with long hours to get the perfect shot, the energy on a set does have the tendency to get draining or just stretched over a period of time. However, the vibe was anything but drab when the motley crew of Quick Style (comprising of Bilal and Suleman Malik, Nasir Sirikhan, Yasin Tatby, William Gamborg, and Egil Mikael) descended on set for our digital cover shoot. Imagine a scenario where good music, adrenaline, and laughter are in equal measure – that’s exactly the energy that radiates from this Norwegian dance group that was put together by twins Bilal and Suleman Malik and Nasir Sirikhan.

It’s hard to miss a dynamic group like theirs, especially when your idea of recreation is to scroll through Instagram reels whenever you find the time. You have probably come across videos of them grooving to a remixed version of Leke Pehla Pehla Pyaar on a packed Mumbai local, dancing it out to the tunes of Coke Studio, or even fooling around and performing with your favourite celebs like Diljit Dosanjh, Suniel Shetty, and more. Name the song, and we can guarantee you that they probably have a synchronised dance routine choreographed to it to the T.

With global acclaim and pretty much everyone trying to imitate their moves with the kind of ease and abandon that only comes with being the crew, the group has been making moves for years now. It all began when they won the World Championship in the hip-hop genre before winning Norske Talenter, also known as Norway’s Got Talent, in 2009. The win made them quite popular in the country, but it was really the medley of 12 songs performed at co-founder Suleman's wedding that catapulted them to fame and made them known across the globe. The video of the performance is up on YouTube and has racked up over 139 million views in the last two years. So popular was this dance sequence that a part of it performed to the song Kala Chashma became an integral part of internet culture in the form of a dance reel, which has been replicated by the likes of the Indian Cricket Team, Jimmy Fallon, and more. A true testament to the fact that one viral moment can well and truly change a person’s life.

Since then, Quick Style has grown from strength to strength and has had the opportunity to choreograph dance numbers for K-Pop band BTS, earning themselves sponsorships with Samsung, Red Bull, Monster, Nike, and more acclaimed brands. For them, dance really is a way of life. On set, between shots, you can spot them in a constant state of motion. Someone is mentally choreographing along to the song playing in the background, a bunch of others goofing around as they sway to the music and holler at each other or bouncing around, trying to figure out the perfect frame to get all the boys together for a sick shot. As far as group dynamics go, one would assume that it must be difficult to manage egos and creative conflicts in a group as big as theirs, but when they are together, they work like a well-oiled machine. Off camera, too, they come across as a group of brothers, perennially messing with each other and just having a good time all around. It’s pretty evident when they harmonise along to Sabrina Carpenter’s summer hit Espresso or when they exclaim at the same time as they cite Michael Jackson as their all-time inspiration. It’s safe to say that it’s all good in this hood.
