Here's how you can evaluate the success of a Computer Graphics project.

When discussing visual quality we should consider two areas, the artistic and the technical. When judging artistic visual quality the parameters should be analysing how appropriate, detailed, rich, convincing and novel the results are to rate the success of the project. A particular aspect we look at lies between a chosen style vs someone hiding something, for example, pushing the contrast beyond what is realistic, therefore, I look for patterns to see if we are hiding stuff. When evaluating the technical aspects we review the typical issues you may find in CG imagery, judder, jitter, noise, artefacts, colour management correctness, motion blur, depth of field and a myriad of other parameters that would suggest something went wrong.

Au-delà de tout ce qui peut sembler logique (la qualité des images, la résolution, l'absence de fautes, etc.), la qualité visuelle d'un projet, c'est avant tout une histoire de ressenti. Le truc, c'est que c'est purement subjectif, la beauté d'une chose ou le sentiment qui nous traverse. Et ça dépend de beaucoup de choses, notamment : le message et la ✨cible✨. Un bon brief en amont, c'est déjà 50% de qualité assurée. Ajoutes-y 25% de technicité (les choses logiques dont je parlais plus tôt) Et 25% de créativité. C'est de cette créativité que naitront les émotions, mais seulement si les 75% restants sont carrés !

Animation Quality: Maintain high frame rates (60 fps or higher) for smooth, immersive animations. By focusing on these metrics, you can ensure your graphics are visually impressive and optimized for performance, meeting industry standards and enhancing user experience.

Frame rate is the key to the success of any realtime project. Higher frame rate gives us a smooth experience and childish delight. Geometry detailing and texture sizes are the main factors that need to be monitored in the first place. Visual effects also play an important role in any project, which can use smoke simulations, liquids, destruction effects, etc. Any stylistic limitation of the project can play into the hands and allow you to neglect the quality(cost) of some elements and free up production capacity for detailing others. The right balance between image quality and performance will allow the project to meet the standards of desktop computers and mobile devices.

Rendering Quality: Evaluate the rendered graphics' visual fidelity, realism, or artistic style. Performance: Measure the frame rate, rendering speed, and application responsiveness. Accuracy: Ensure the graphical output correctly represents the intended models and scenes.

Não significa que o trabalho deva ser sempre o melhor, não significa que o trabalho seja sempre feito de maneira rápida e não significa que se deva pagar o mínimo. C'est quelque chose qui est trop souvent oublié lors des projets graphiques. Les objectifs. Alors qu'ils sont essentiels ! Déjà, la première question à se poser, c'est : comment le projet s'intègre dans la stratégie globale de l'entreprise ? Parce que si tu ne sais pas, c'est que ton projet n'est pas abouti ou inutile. La durabilité, c'est un sacré sujet. Prit à bras-le-corps par certain.e.s, ignoré par d'autres, c'est pourtant central ! Prenons un logo. Il est censé durer ad vitam æternam mais en réalité, il a une durée moyenne de 10 ans. Parce que les modes et le monde évoluent et qu'on ne peut pas tout anticiper. Mais on peut toucher du doigt la longévité : en connaissant la cible, en connaissant son entreprise, ses valeurs, son why et tutti quanti. Et éviter quelques erreurs comme : - Choisir des typos tendances qui seront dépassées demain - Avoir une identité qui ne raconte rien - Ou qui ne dit rien de nous. Avoir une identité qui dure, c'est aussi être reconnaissable sur le long terme, être cohérent.e tout en évoluant avec le monde 🙌

Along with many industry standard requirements and commercial goals, any project would do better to be useful to people. With the ability to reach a wide audience of different ages, a project can have a positive impact in various areas. It is great to include educational aspects for both children and adults. People with disabilities should not be forgotten either. Any project, whether it is an entertainment game or an advertising campaign, can make a useful contribution to the development of the different local communities or even society.

I think there are 3 topics that we haven't covered that are very related to "User Feedback" but I think could be called out. 1. Visual language. Does your art make sense? Consider a visual effect that demonstrates a character healing, but the visual effect is red. Red typically denotes damage to the character, not healing. 3. Contrast checking. A large number of people have some form of color blindness. Can they see your artwork well enough to use your app? 2. All this falls into the roles of a lead artist or art director.
