Correct!!....upgrading yourself in your field is very very important,same aslo as learning on how to use new tools and adapting to new tech too. All this will help you build yourself to a standard and never negelect the ideas of other engineers or technicians

When I was an FSE, the two most valuable things I learned were: don't be afraid to pick up your phone and call a more experienced engineer. Sometimes even when you think you already have an issue sorted out, a sanity check can help you avoid a return visit. Second was to always approach things methodically. Even if a customer or another FSE told me they had already troubleshot the basics, I found that by starting from zero and working through things linearly I would often save time as opposed to jumping ahead to the worst-case-scenario only to find out that the underlying problem was something relatively simple that had been overlooked.

When I started my first job as a biomedical FSE, I always tried to learn everything I could understand, it was challenging at first, but then it was much easier to observe, learn, and gain the required new information. Read, observing, and asking, are the best ways to build new skills to be a better FSE.

Problem solving is not a subject but rather a collection of methods, many of which are unique to a subject. Those that are generally applicable are sometimes called “weak methods” because they don’t use information from the theory; those that do are called “strong methods”. My advice is to choose a subject of interest, and work problems. My view is that there are two phases in problem-solving: modeling the problem and then solving the model. Modeling is formalizing the problem into the vocabulary of the system. The vocabulary gives you the relationships; the solution is finding objects that fit those relationships.

I always think about the simplest problems possible before I dive into the worst scenarios, most of the issues that happen need to be observed to be solved. Try always to read the manuals to have a better idea about what you could do. And don't be shy to call the more experienced engineer for any help.

Safety should always be your top priority as a Field Service Engineer. Understand and adhere to all safety protocols and regulations in your industry. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use tools and machinery according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Regularly review safety procedures to stay updated, and never take shortcuts that could compromise your or others' safety.

As a Biomedical FSE, I'm always working with infected objects and devices, so I have always to wear gloves and a mask, and sanitize my hands before I touch anything. Be aware of the industry and the room you are working in, to be sure of what you have to wear and what you have to avoid. Be safe and aware.
