A majority of InfoSec folks tend to be private and for some good logical reasons. However, more than ever staying quiet or private with your voice (opinion or fact-driven) and expertise is doing more of a disservice as long as you follow a basic code of conduct and be mindful of oversharing. This can caste a wider net on the internet that creates opportunities to connect with new people, have a following, open gateways into speaking on a podcast, conferences, support consulting, even showing interest in future employers etc.

Once I moderated an event I got also recognized as competently person for information security. so it is very helpful for your career and for showing others about your skills by speaking publicly. before doing so, you should train your speaking skills by your own. you should be able to answer questions your audience reaches out to you aswell. being a information security professional and speaking about your experiences on a stage is also helpful for other people who are interested in this topic.
