After a strong authentication mechanism is in place, dynamic access policy, or, as I say, conditional access policy, is a creative way to design a secure remote access solution. So based on certain types of criteria, it can dynamically give or take away certain rights and permissions. Talking more plainly  This thing is simple yet effective. It's cool because it can dynamically give access by interrogating them, like if the client machine has a firewall, a recommended OS version or patch, any antivirus or EDR installed, their location, and on and on, and what to do if one or other conditions match or fail. I wonder when vendors will rebrand this simple idea as "AI-based authorization" with some AI/ML buzzwords. Who knows 😂

In my opinion, using custom encryption algorithms is generally not recommended for securing remote access because Standard encryption protocols like AES, RSA, and ECC have undergone extensive peer review and testing by the cryptographic community. This scrutiny helps ensure their robustness and reliability. Custom algorithms lack this broad validation and are more likely to contain undetected vulnerabilities. Also relying on obscurity (keeping the algorithm secret) is not a sound security strategy. Even if a custom algorithm remains obscure for a time, if it is ever reverse-engineered or its details are leaked, it could be compromised much more easily than thoroughly tested standard algorithms.

There are several ways to create custom encryption, with various possibilities and methods. However, creativity must be balanced with practicality and efficiency. An example is the Brainfuck programming language, which is interesting and unique, but its complexity makes it impractical for everyday use in most applications. Similarly, custom encryption must be efficient and practical for daily use, ensuring not only security but also usability and performance.

This strategy highlights a critical aspect of cybersecurity: the human factor. While technological defenses are vital, educating and engaging the user community effectively can dramatically enhance overall security posture. Interactive training and gamification make training more relatable and easier to retain, making what otherwise dry material into something more dynamic and impactful.
