Most of the tech conferences that i have attended are presented by the top voices from the community. These presenters are the most advance users of the programing language/framework/platform. Even If they talk about a basic topic, its often hard to grasp by someone who doesn't have a background. Therefore having a good knowledge of the domain is necessary. And obviously the more you know your stuff the better chat you can have with other attendees.

Visualization will give us the far-sightedness of our goal. In the end when we will achieve our goal, then we will realise that it was the visualization that kept us positive in the journey!

When I worked on a Smart bicycle helm project as student of Fontys Hogescholen, I searched online for events related to tech. I found an upcoming event that was given for professionals, and decided to mail the organizer. I explained that I was a student and that I would like to attend the convention in order to learn new things that might help with my project. To my surprise, I was given free tickets for my entire project group. So, even when you are not in a certain niche or branche in programming/hardware, it is always good to actively search for interesting events. Be enthusiastic and explain your situation. I learned a lot at the convention, met a lot of people, and it also helped my project group with our School Project.
