The ewes at Baapolis celebrates Thesmophoria in 5023P.H., when they have a 3 day celebration, and plant wheat, barley and legumes for the winter. Due to homos sapiens influence, they did take on a little Thanksgiving flavor. They particularly amuse themselves in hosting a comedy stand-up lineup of traveling Turkey Comedians. The Turkeys then invite a local sheep for the guest spot. Though General Iris does look down upon any sheep that even tries to be funny. The business of funny belongs to the silly birds, she would often say. Kopernicus, however, gets a pretty great laugh every year this time. (Illustration of Kopernicus by Beatriz Varela) (Lineup of Turkeys by Dalle2) Kopernicus wishes everyone a happy human thanksgiving! #137ewes #baapolis #kopernicus #thanksgiving #thesmophoria #sheep #holidays #animation #comics #wholesome #turkeys #standup

Merry #October! A little domesticated #sheep fact for those of us who want to get #cozy in this northern hemisphere weather. The fact is from #NationalSheepAssociation of the UK. " In October the rams are put out with the ewes for breeding. Rams are sometimes called ‘tups’, and mating is often referred to as ‘tupping’. An experienced ram will be put out with anything from 50 to 100 ewes, while a less experienced ram will serve 25. It is typical to put a harness on each ram with a ‘raddle’ attached. A raddle is a big lump of sticky paint, so when the male mates with the female he leaves a smear of paint behind. This way, the farmer knows how busy the ram has been. Several rams working in one field might have a different paint colour each, or each ram have the same colour for a certain amount of time, changing every few days so the farmer know which order the ewes will lamb in later in the season. But that’s why, in the autumn, you often see sheep with bright colours on them. " #137ewes

Meet Taylor who came up with various #creative #ideas to stories that they were assigned in #storyboarding . Though our #story #internship at #137ewes has ended. The learning continues! Taylor Lynott 🧃 When boarding your own story, how do you approach it? How does that change when you board for others’ stories? When I work on my own stories, I like writing out a messy script and thumbnail on paper. Starting on paper always helps my ideas flow, and if I get stuck down the line I always go back to paper to think it out. I like to explore a lot of different ideas in the thumbnail phase before I start boarding on Photoshop or Storyboard Pro. Boarding someone else’s story makes the early phases a bit easier because I don’t have to make as many decisions about what I want to do. Working with a solid world, characters, and plot as a base has been a total treat. I love taking the characters I’m given and just sketching them in my notebook, getting used to the style and trying to figure out their personality. Sometimes it’s difficult to really understand them and the setting because it’s not your own, but asking questions and pitching ideas helped me wrap my head around things. From there, I just get ot work boarding bit by bit and reworking things as I go. 🥕 What did you learn this summer that you did not anticipate? This summer, I didn’t anticipate to learn so much about story. I learned a lot in school and on my own about narrative structure, emotional beats, pacing, character development, etc. But everything I knew was from a consumer point-of-view. I knew how to identify those things and appreciate it when watching someone else’s work, but creating a story that came from someone else’s brain with a team of so many brilliant artists was an experience I hadn’t had in a while. I’ve created most of my projects by myself, so getting feedback from a director and understanding the ‘why’ behind her decisions was eye-opening. These are all basic job duties that you can read on an application, but I didn’t anticipate the difference there would be experiencing it. 🦚 What advice would you give new storyboard artists? To new storyboard artists, my advice would be to get out of your comfort zone. Being a storyboard artist means you have to juggle a million different skills at once, so learn as many as you can. Study creative writing, film, directing, figure drawing, animation, all of this will help. And another big thing is to be nice. The animation industry is super small and everyone knows everyone. The best piece of advice I’ve gotten is, “You want to be the sigh of relief, not the groan of exasperation.” 🐾 Tell us an animal that you would like #Baapolis the show to include and why? I think it’d be really cool to see a Maned Wolf in Baapolis. Since they’re generally solitary creatures and are rarely sighted, I think it’d be cool to have one as a wise wanderer outside of society. ⭐️ Meet Taylor at: https://lnkd.in/gUkcEeHP
