Liz snapped her laptop shut on a Saturday afternoon, missing her son’s soccer game—again. As a law firm owner specializing in family law, her days spilled over with client meetings, leaving no room for the referrals slipping through her fingers. She listened to her friend and fellow attorney, Daniel, talk about how he referred personal injury cases and used that "mailbox money" to take his family on an amazing vacation. Liz was already buried in work so how could she find time to send out referrals, much less track and follow up on them? One morning, coffee in hand, Liz overheard a conversation at a networking event. A fellow attorney boasted about how they just automated their referral system. She already used a case management software, but that was just for her cases and clients.....right? She decided to bring in an Intake Optimization Consultant to help implement new workflows and ensure her firm could take advantage of referring cases. They mapped out the current process and flow, then proposed improvements and how to implement them. She learned that by adding a few simple steps into an existing process, her firm could start sending more referrals and track them without adding more work for her team. After just a few weeks, she and her team were trained on the changes to how they logged, tagged, and processed potential clients in their case management software. They realized it was just a few clicks and a little training to put an automated system in motion! Three months later, Liz checked her CRM dashboard to find that not only had her firm sent several referrals, she was also pleasantly surprised by a thank you note from another attorney. Liz was also able to streamline other parts of her intake system through the help of her Optimization Consultant. She was getting more done for her clients because she didn't have to spend time on admin work. But most importantly, her son loved hearing his Mom cheering for him when he scored a goal. #intakeoptimization #lawfirmintake

Imagine you're running a law firm and need an experienced leader but are hesitant about a full-time hire. Consider the "try before you buy" approach with a fractional executive. This strategy allows you to bring in a seasoned leader without the long-term commitment, offering the flexibility to test their impact on your firm's success. Fractional executives come with a wealth of experience and industry knowledge, providing tailored expertise to address specific challenges or opportunities within your firm. It's a practical way to gain high-level leadership without the full-time expense. This approach also mitigates the risk associated with permanent hires, giving your firm the chance to evaluate the executive's performance and fit before making a significant commitment. In essence, hiring a fractional executive can be a strategic move for law firms looking to strengthen leadership without the immediate need for a full-time position. It's a smart, adaptable solution that can drive your firm's progress while maintaining financial and operational flexibility. What are your views on integrating a fractional executive into your firm's leadership strategy?

🚀 Thinking of Amping Up Your Law Firm's Marketing? Pump the Brakes! Before you dive into the deep end of marketing to attract more clients, let’s talk about what happens after you respond to their call. Imagine this: Your marketing is a hit, the phone is ringing off the hook, but your intake system? It's like a leaky boat, barely staying afloat. Don't be that host who invites everyone to a grand party but forgets to plan for entertainment and refreshments! A consistent and efficient intake process is the secret sauce to turning interested callers into clients. It’s not just about drawing them in; it’s about making them stay. Before spending a dime on marketing, ask yourself: Is my firm truly ready to handle the influx? Ensure your intake system is not just functioning but thriving. Because in the end, the best marketing investment is one that leads to satisfied clients, not just increased calls. 🔑 Key Takeaway: Invest in your intake process before upping your marketing game. Imagine you're running a law firm, and you've got a team member who just isn't clicking with the rest of the crew. At first, it's like a small pebble in your shoe, barely noticeable. But as days turn into weeks, that pebble feels more like a boulder, and you realize something's gotta give. Let's dive into a scenario where a law firm owner faces this dilemma but hesitates to act. Picture this: You've got a partner or an employee who's like that one jigsaw piece that just won’t fit, no matter how you twist or turn it. At first, it seems manageable; maybe they're just having off days or need more time to adjust. So, you give it time, but the issues persist, creating ripples of discontent across the team. Here’s the kicker: the longer you wait, the more it costs you – not just in money, but in team morale, client satisfaction, and the firm's reputation. It’s like letting a wound fester without treatment; eventually, it infects the whole system. This indecision can lead to a toxic work environment, where resentment builds, productivity drops, and your best talent starts eyeing the exit. Now, let’s talk action. It’s about facing the music, no matter how uncomfortable. It involves having those tough conversations, assessing the situation honestly, and making the call that’s best for the business. It's not just about skills or experience but how well they gel with the firm's values and culture. So, what’s the cost of dragging your feet? Well, it can be steep. Lost clients, unhappy staff, and a tarnished brand are just the start. On the flip side, making a timely decision can pave the way for positive change, allowing you to bring in fresh talent that aligns better with the firm’s vision and goals. Reflecting on this, it’s clear that the moment of realization isn’t the end but a crucial turning point. It’s about seizing the opportunity to steer the firm back on course, reinforcing a culture of accountability and excellence. Now, over to you: Have you faced a similar situation in your business? How did you handle it, and what lessons did you learn? Share your thoughts and experiences, and let’s navigate these tricky waters together. #buildagreatteam #fractionalexecutives #leadership

FRACTIONAL. THE NEW FULL-TIME. (No. Freelance is something much different). 9-to-5 is a relic. It took a global Pandemic to rush along some of these changes that were bubbling up under the surface. Fluid. Flexible. New definitions and paradigms that had been slowly taking place got a kick in the ass. I had a CEO client call me up during the pandemic while he was enjoying some of the new flexibilities and say to me 'You were ahead of your time!'. He was always trying to get me as a fractional member of his team to show my face at the office and I would say 'Book a meeting with me and I'll come'. Enter the FRACTIONAL era. It's not freelancing. I do that too. That is pitching in, helping out - a hired gun for a short contract - you never enter the stream or become part of the organization that way. No, Fractional is different. It's a commitment, but with the volume turned down to fit the rhythm of modern life and business needs. Why lock in a full staff full-time when you can access the brainpower of seasoned professionals across the globe? Most of them will want yearly raises, advancements and let's be honest; after 2-3 years they will leap-frog out of there to get the promotion you couldn't give them some place else. With fractional work, companies can inject fresh perspectives and expertise into their teams without the full overhead of full-time hires. And let's face it, in a world where adaptability is king, flexibility isn't just nice—it's essential. And here is the secret secret - your fractional hires are usually much more experienced and skilled than the full-time equivalent that your firm could afford. You are only buying as much of them as you need. Another statistical fact. Senior Fractionals get way more done in less time - and achieve far greater outcomes! So, what's the ideal mix? Haven't had long enough for the meta data to kick in but it seems like 30% of your special talents workforce to fractional roles? By special talent I mean those in creative, strategy, marketing, branding, production, media and professional services. This sweet spot allows for agility, diversity of thought, and continual innovation, without sacrificing the continuity and commitment of a dedicated team. Benefits? Lower costs, higher efficiency, and the kind of cutting-edge talent that would otherwise be out of reach. Kiss a fractional today! Fractional Executive | Helping Business Owners Create and Sustain Their Ideal Company Culture and Achieve Success

Frank’s retirement clock is ticking - he's got 24 months to transform his beloved, albeit slightly chaotic, law firm into a well-oiled machine, attractive enough for a buyer. The obstacle? He thought documentation of systems and processes was too corporate and he wanted to keep his business “agile and scrappy.”  Enter Brandi, a Fractional COO with a toolbox full of frameworks and a knack for turning chaos into order. Brandi’s mission: to morph Frank’s firm from a group of talented mavericks into a streamlined powerhouse. Initially, the team is skeptical. "We're lawyers, not robots," they protest, as Brandi introduces the first set of processes. Frank watches, torn between his love for the old ways and his dream of retiring to a beach somewhere, margarita in hand. But then, something clicks. Frank backed up Brandi and as the team begrudgingly begins to follow her systems, they start to see the benefits. Deadlines aren't just met; they're beaten. Clients start raving about the firm's efficiency. Even the most stubborn staff members must admit that knowing who does what, when, and how, isn't just corporate mumbo-jumbo—it's actually kind of genius. Brandi spent 6 months working in the firm just one day per week, but now each team member feels empowered and clear on what they want to achieve. Fast forward 16 months after Brandi moved on, and Frank’s firm is unrecognizable. It's the same team, with the same fire, but now they're firing on all cylinders. When the buyout offer comes—it's more than Frank initially hoped for. The new levels of productivity and efficiency simultaneously drove increases in revenue and profit. The stuff that buyers and investors love to see!  On his last day, as Frank hands over the keys to the new owners, he calls Brandi. "Thought I hired you to tidy up the place, not transform it," Frank says, only half-joking. "Guess it's a good thing you didn't hold back." After a heartfelt thank you, Frank hangs up the phone and walks out into the sunset. He's leaving behind a legacy, a team ready for the future, and a proven and meticulously documented playbook so they can continue driving success.  #TheFractionals #fractionalcoo #fractionalleadership

Words and what you call things matter. Can you think of one successful movement that didn't have a clearly labeled word and concept at its core? I can't, and that's why it's so important to use the proper words. Consulting isn't bad, it's just not fractional.  Part-time employment isn't less, it's just not fractional. I've shared this chart before, but will do so again in the hopes it helps. We also created a site (https://lnkd.in/ei27pQMp) to further help define the differences, and to help others share and spread awareness. I believe in fractional, both for the leaders and for the companies who need the expertise but not full-time. And one of the main reasons it's so hard to find fractional work today is because the concept isn't understood, and therefore those that could use the help don't know it exists. Fortunately I'm not the only one who believes in both the value of fractional and the distinction between it and the other types of part-time or flexible work, and I know together we'll eventually get the traction this movement deserves. So I will keep correcting those who don't understand the power of labels and words...and look forward to the day this will no longer be necessary. #wordsmatter #fractionaladvantage #fractionalleadership
