The impact of a measured, methodical approach to autonomy is perhaps most apparent when it comes to safety and efficiency. Gatik's SVP of Commercialization and Operations, Philip Reinckens talks about this subject, and the wider-reaching benefits of #autonomy in this week's Fleet Maintenance magazine. Read the full article below:
While both autonomous and zero-emissions vehicles have faced some resistance in commercial trucking, together they can enhance a fleet's safety and efficiency, according to Philip Reinckens, SVP of Commercialization & Operations at middle-mile AV developer Gatik. "You can drive more efficiently in the sense that an AV can predict the traffic situation much better,” Reinckens said. “It drives like a very careful person; there's no speeding, there's no inefficiencies like accelerating and knowing that in 300 meters there is going to be a traffic jam.” And the improvement in AVs and ZEVs are likely to improve safety systems, like ADAS, as well. For more on how these three technologies may interact going forward, see the piece below. #truckingindustry #ADAS #zeroemissionsvehicles #autonomousvehicles #safety

Building a reliable, robust and safe delivery network is our core mission. Recently, our Co-Founder and Chief Engineer Apeksha Kumavat sat down with Alan Adler for his FreightWaves Truck Tech Podcast to talk about how our #AI-first technology is underpinned by classical robotics methods to deliver on that mission, and how our partners at Isuzu Motors Ltd. are deepening their commitment to Gatik with a planned dedicated SAE Level 4 #autonomous vehicle production facility.
