As we cross into the second half of 2024, we are entering a season of change for some of the incredibly talented, hardworking junior staff at Gnarus. Being mindful of that, we would like to extend a hearty thank you to our departing colleagues Evan Rappaport, who interned with us this Spring, and to the very skilled Olivia Lees, CPA who has been an Analyst in our Environmental Practice for the past two years and is moving on to do great things in her PhD program at UC Davis. We would also like to welcome our new Senior Analyst Joshua Ball, who joins us after having completed his undergraduate degree at Grinell College and his MS in Economics from the University of Freiburg in Germany. Gnarus Advisors is pleased to welcome its newest expert, Dr. Laura A. Malowane. Dr. Malowane brings outstanding experience to Gnarus with more than 25 years of providing expert consulting and testifying services related to economic damages and liability analysis in defamation, employment, and complex commercial litigation matters. “Laura’s stellar credentials and depth of expertise will benefit Gnarus’ clients and colleagues alike,“ said Jessica B. Horewitz, Gnarus’ President. “It’s exciting to add a notable expert like Laura as we continue our thoughtful, forward-looking path in 2024.”  Dr. Malowane’s engagements often involve analyses of reputational harm in defamation claims, lost earnings in employment matters, diminution in firm value and profits in commercial litigation, and the reasonableness of attorney rates in fee disputes. She has testified on behalf of multinational media firms, Fortune 100 retailers and manufacturers, and large non-profit organizations in the arts.  Dr. Malowane has served as an expert witness for numerous federal government agencies and affiliated organizations, including the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Malowane earned a PhD in Economics from Princeton University. She also earned JD, MBA, and BA degrees from York University. Prior to joining Gnarus, Dr. Malowane led a successful consulting practice for 25 years at Secretariat International (formerly Economists Incorporated).  She has also served as a lecturer in economics and statistics classes on behalf of Princeton University and the University of Toronto. Gnarus hosted our first post-COVID (and post re-launch) all-hands offsite earlier this month in Denver. While a few of our colleagues sadly were unable to attend, most of us were able to join. We had a very productive meetings - but the best parts were (of course) the opportunities to socialize and catch up with colleagues and friends over meals, drinks, and the spaces “in between” meetings. #colleagues #culturematters #inpersonevents #teambuilding
