Meet Alyssa Shriber, she is an entry-level carpenter and a recent SkillsUSA National Signing Day signer. Alyssa's journey into the skilled trades was sparked by her experiences building a pool deck with her father and learning construction basics from her godparents. Enrolling in the Construction Trades program at Indian Valley Vocational Center IVVC, Alyssa discovered her strong passion for building. Confident in her skills, Alyssa believes in her success in the skilled trades: "I believe that I will make something big out of myself in this career.” #SkilledVoices #LowesFoundation #SkilledTradesCareers #SkillsUSANationalSigningDay #BlueCollarCool

She Built This City is leading the way for organizations all over and it is a pleasure to support this mission," highlighting the excitement we all at the foundation feel for these students. "Everything I've gone through has allowed me to get to this successful version of myself.” Michele Senofonov, a Lowe's Companies, Inc. store associate in Charlotte, NC describes her career journey as anything but accidental. While staying at Charlotte Rescue Mission, a local nonprofit providing safe and stable housing, Michele connected with She Built This City a Lowe's Foundation Gable Grant recipient offering skilled trades training in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical. Upon learning that Lowe's Foundation funded many of the programs at She Built This City, Michele decided to pursue a career with Lowe's. Michele aspires to use what she learned at She Built This City to support Lowe's customers and hopes to one day pursue a career in HVAC through Lowe's Track to the Trades program. "HVAC isn't going anywhere," she says, "I know I will be good at it and that it will allow me to continue to grow as a person." #SkilledVoices #SkilledTradesCareers #Lowesfoundation #Lowesassociate

🎉 Congrats to these students! We are so proud to support Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and their Construction Basics training classes! #Communitypartnership #GableGrants #LowesFoundation
During the final week of our current tuition-free Construction Basics cohort, our talented participants have been hard at work on their class projects, using their new skills to build items to give back to the community. They’ve crafted food pantries, lending libraries, bird houses, garden boxes and benches, all of which will be donated in the Greater Charlotte Area. We couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and craftsmanship shown by our participants. #ConstructionTraining #CommunityBuilding #ConstructionBasics #GivingBack #SkillDevelopment #CommunitySupport #FreeTraining
