Featured Session at Lavender Law® Conference and Career Fair: Dismantling the Administrative State and the Impact on LGBTQI Communities What does a Supreme Court case about fishing regulations have to do with LGBTQI rights? Quite a bit, in fact. Government agencies radically impact the lives of our communities: issuing marriage licenses and driver’s licenses, regulating healthcare for people living with HIV, overseeing homelessness and immigration policy, ensuring access to food and gender-affirming care, and enforcing nondiscrimination laws. For decades, federal and state agencies were given wide latitude to administer these programs, with a wide range of consequences for LGBTQI people. However, as reflected most recently in the Loper Bright case, the Supreme Court has charted a course away from this fundamental component of functioning government. Join us at Lavender Law® as we discuss the present state of administrative law, key developments most relevant to LGBTQI communities, and effective strategies at the federal, state and local agency level to leverage positive outcomes for LGBTQI people. Celebrating Nonbinary Awareness Week! The National LGBTQ+ Bar recently co-sponsored a webinar titled, “Creating More Welcoming Workplaces for Nonbinary Individuals | Practical Steps Towards Gender Inclusion in the Legal Profession.” The panel, which included Andy Izenson, D Dangaran, August Hieber, Rafael Langer-Osuna, and Rebekah Tobison Scherr, discussed their experiences as nonbinary legal professionals and shared the impact of “Creating More Welcoming Workspaces.” This trailblazing new guide, published by Beyond Binary Legal and the Harvard Law School LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic, outlines how and why the legal profession must uplift, support, and respect nonbinary people. The LGBTQ+ Bar is proud to sponsor both the guide and this panel, alongside the American Bar Association, Beyond Binary Legal, the Harvard Law School LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic, the National Association for Law Placement, Inc. (NALP), and the National Trans Bar Association. Watch the recorded webinar here: https://lnkd.in/eaG3vMYg Read the groundbreaking guide here: https://lnkd.in/e-wWAGkc

Please join the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association as we honor the 2024 Dan Bradley Award Winner: Bill Singer. The Dan Bradley Award is the LGBTQ+ Bar’s highest honor. It recognizes the efforts of a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal community whose work, like Attorney Dan Bradley, has led the way in our struggle for equality under the law. For more than 50 years, from his practice in rural Somerset County, New Jersey, Bill Singer has been working to create and protect queer families.
