#ThrowbackThursday to the Howell Mill Road Complete Street project, where Pond redesigned the corner of Brady Avenue and Howell Mill Road from an unused space into a vibrant pocket park.    Originally a leftover triangle with three trees and worn sod, it is now an inviting gathering spot with decked seating, benches, bike racks, lighting, and movable seating.    This revitalized space, developed in collaboration with the City of Atlanta and Upper Westside CID, showcases how thoughtful design can turn forgotten areas into community assets.     #PowerofPond #ParkandRecMonth24 #WhereYouBelong

SPOTLIGHT: Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson In March 2024, Pond led a project execution charrette for the Installations & Mission Support Center Detachment 2 Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) facilities sustainment, restoration, and modernization (FSRM) execution initiative at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), located in Anchorage, Alaska. The charrette is part of a PACAF-wide task order contract awarded to the Pond-CDM Smith JV to provide military planning, programming and design services at all main operating bases and several geographically separated units throughout the Pacific Theatre.  The goal of this initiative is to improve PACAF project execution and support the installation’s FY24 – FY29 FSRM program to keep facilities updated and modernized. These developments align with the Air Force Comprehensive Asset Management Plan and PACAF's 'Fight Tonight' strategy to improve installation resiliency, mission generation, and mobility operations across the Pacific.  During the charrette, Pond-CDM Smith JV and the 673d Civil Engineer Squadron met with facility users and maintenance personnel to identify requirements for more than a dozen facilities and infrastructure repair projects across the installation.  Project close-out at JBER is scheduled for September 2024. #PowerofPond #PACAF #JBER

Pond had the pleasure of volunteering at the Society of American Military Engineers STEM camp at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL. Students have spent the week learning engineering, design and construction principles while developing leadership skills and exploring their future careers. Their objectives included building popsicle stick bridges and constructing dog houses, among other tasks. Several members of our Jacksonville office helped brief the campers, observe the design and construction process, and judge each event. From brainstorming ideas to building the final structure, these students demonstrated exceptional teamwork and creativity! #PowerofPond #NAVFACSE #SAMEcamps
