Historic milestone! 🌟 During this week's heat wave, PGE customers cut peak electricity demand by 109 MW on Monday and 100 MW on Tuesday by participating in PGE's energy shifting programs. These collective actions supported reliable power delivery and grid stability during a time of extremely high power demand. Huge thanks to everyone involved. Together, we're driving a more resilient, sustainable energy future.

We've formally committed to a regional day-ahead energy market by signing an implementation agreement with the California ISO for its Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM). Joining the EDAM allows us share our energy needs and resources with other participating utilities a day ahead of expected usage, helping to serve customers with the least costly and cleanest energy available.
Portland General Electric is the second entity in the West to sign an implementation agreement and formally commit to joining the California ISO’s Extended Day-Ahead Market. Read the news release: https://ow.ly/9Aup50Su2Gk #EnergyNews

This wildfire season, PGE is committed to keeping Oregon’s communities safe by investing in advanced technologies and proactive measures. We’re implementing high-def, panoramic cameras for early fire detection, enhancing our vegetation management practices to remove potential fire hazards, and training our crews to ensure a fast response. However, preparedness is a collective effort. We’re encouraging Oregonians to be prepared by staying informed and having emergency plans in place. Each year, we partner with organizations that make a difference in the communities we serve. This year, PGE volunteers supported 130 organizations, including Meals on Wheels People, Schoolhouse Supplies, Legal Aid Services Of Oregon, and many more. We also joined SOLVE's Oregon Spring Clean-up, where over 4,000 volunteers collectively picked up an impressive 21,981 pounds of litter and debris. A special thank you to our dedicated PGE team members who hosted events in Gresham, Oregon City, Estacada, and Portland. We also supported Friends of Trees – a partner since its first planting in 1989 – by volunteering at events in Beaverton, Portland, and Tualatin, planting over 600 trees. THANK YOU to everyone who invested time and effort during National Volunteer Month! #PGEvolunteers #SpringIntoAction #CommunitySupport #NationalVolunteerMonth #SOLVEOregon #FriendsOfTrees #GivingBack #CommunityService

Congratulations to Kregg Arntson for the well-deserved Executives of the Year recognition from the Portland Business Journal. Kregg is a true connector, builder and leader both at PGE and within the community. We value all that he does to make a difference!
At PBJ, we believe being an Executive of the Year means more than just being an excellent leader; we chose this year's honorees based on their ability to lead as well as their contributions to our community. One nomination that stood out to us was Kregg Arntson's: "Through Kregg Arntson’s leadership overseeing Portland General Electric’s community investment programs, he is at the center of collaboration with PGE/PGE Foundation leadership team, employees and community partners. His work is integral to building and maintaining PGE’s reputation as a company committed to powering the advancement of society, engaging employees in community work, and meeting PGE’s Environmental, Social and Governance goals. "Kregg's executive leadership of the PGE Foundation-- a private, nonprofit foundation with $29 million in assets and annual grant-making of approximately $1.4 million-- has helped to build upon PGE's reputation as a community champion for education, the arts, youth programs, and workforce development. Kregg manages a philanthropic portfolio investing approximately $11 million annually in grants and programmatic investments in the areas of education, arts and creative expression, workforce development, environmental stewardship and community-based clean energy projects. "Under Kregg’s leadership, PGE and the Foundation launched Project Zero, a social impact initiative designed to engage students in learning about climate science and clean energy, enhancing parks and green spaces in neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by climate change, and creating green sector opportunities for historically underserved young adults. "In addition, Kregg was instrumental in guiding PGE/PGE Foundation’s collaborative response to significant events recently impacting our community, including the COVID-19 pandemic, racial justice protests and Oregon’s historic wildfires. This included a 50% increase in grant-making in 2020 to address immediate needs associated with the pandemic and tripling investments in the work of culturally specific, BIPOC-led, community-based organizations over the last 5 years. "Kregg also oversees enterprise-wide employee engagement strategies and programs driving employee participation in volunteerism, board service and PGE’s matching gift programs. His team has increased employee giving participation to industry-leading heights; 56% over 10 years. He has also doubled contributions/matching from approximately $1 million to $2 million annually." Help us thank Kregg for all that he does for our community at the Executives of the Year awards on April 18th: https://lnkd.in/gcUp3xG4
