Deep Tech VC: Neuro, Energy, Photonics

At best, fundraising is tough. At worst, it’s soul-crushing. Throughout raising my first fund, I encountered quite a few people that wasted my time.  To help founders and VCs, I wrote a guide (https://lnkd.in/g-mdEtrU) on how to identify and handle these types: 👻 Ghosts who vanish without a word. 🤡 Clowns who talk big but deliver little. 🦹♂️ Players who have a hidden agenda. Let’s make our ecosystem healthier by exposing these troubling behaviors. 🌟 Think this could help? Spread the word. Together, we can make fundraising more transparent and efficient. #rpv #fundraising #lessons #guide

Let's talk about Graphene Semiconductors 🔬 Graphene semiconductors, leading innovations in materials science, offer transformative properties for electronics. This one-atom-thick carbon lattice is known for its exceptional electrical conductivity, flexibility, and strength. Unlike traditional semiconductors, graphene lacks a natural bandgap, a challenge for controlling current flow. Researchers are addressing this through advanced methods like bilayer configurations and chemical modifications, aiming to enhance its semiconductor potential. These innovations could lead to a new era in electronics, with applications ranging from flexible displays to high-speed processors. 💡 Recent Breakthrough A pivotal study at the University of Kansas, published in ACS Nano, reveals significant advancements in graphene electron dynamics. The research, led by Ryan Scott and Professor Hui Zhao, demonstrates high-speed, collision-free electron movement in graphene. Using a novel four-layer structure and ultrafast laser techniques, this study extends electron mobility for real-time observation. These insights herald a future of faster, more energy-efficient electronic devices, capitalizing on graphene's unique properties. 💼 VC Opportunity Projected to reach $5.2 billion by 2031 from $270.8 million in 2021, the global graphene electronics market is experiencing rapid growth (34.2% CAGR). This surge is fueled by graphene's exceptional properties, such as high mechanical strength and thermal conductivity, and increasing demand across consumer electronics, automotive, and other sectors. Graphene's potential in next-generation semiconductors, batteries, touch screens, and sensors, positions it as a key material for future technological advancements. #nanotechnology #physics #deeptech #vc Tamaz Khunjua Thomas J.
