A Better Building Experience.
About us
At Shawmut Design and Construction, we promise our clients a better building experience. As an award-winning construction management firm, we are dedicated to outperforming expectations every day—a responsibility we take seriously as employee-owners and a promise we make to each one of our partners. Right from the start—all the way to the ribbon cutting—we promise our clients a building experience that’s the very best. Winning for clients is our passion. We succeed when our clients enjoy the building process as much as the building itself. To be the best, we need to cultivate the best talent. We work to create an inclusive environment where everyone reaches their fullest potential, with a Diversity Leadership Council driving our journey toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. Shawmut is 100% employee-owned which means every employee has a vested interest in the success of the company and the success of our clients’ projects. As part owners through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), each employee takes pride in being part of a talent-driven and leading-edge organization focused on delivering exceptional client service.

The #ShawmutBuilt Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts at Marymount Manhattan College is a vibrant, cross-disciplinary hub atop the college’s historic John Russell Pope-designed building. Recently named a finalist in the Architizer A+ Awards and recognized with a Boston Society of Architects Design Award, the project transformed two static floors into a 12,000 square foot, daylight-filled space. Featuring dynamic studios, event, gala, and performance areas, The Judy convenes the New York art community in a central, multidisciplinary facility. Last week, we were honored to attend the Preservation Massachusetts 2024 Preservation Awards at the State House, where three #ShawmutBuilt projects were recognized. The First Church of Christ, Scientist multi-year restoration and the Memorial Hall roof restoration at Harvard University received the organization’s highest honor, the Paul & Niki Tsongas Award, for their exemplary commitment to historic preservation in the Commonwealth. Additionally, the Abbot Building restoration was awarded the Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award for revitalizing the heart of Harvard Square with a space for the future. Congratulations to our project teams, partners, and clients!
