“I’m passionate about who we are, how we build, and how we treat our people. Yes, we get to build great technology, but if we build great technology on the backs of our employees, and people have sacrificed their families and their lives, then I think we’ve failed.” Published today, Bonnie Marcus of Forbes interviews our co-founder and CEO, Sarah "Sassie" Duggleby, delving into Venus' groundbreaking technology, unique culture, and innovative approach to building an aerospace company.

ICYMI: Venus Aerospace was selected for a NASA SBIR continuing our work on Rotating Detonation Rocket Engines (RDREs). In this project, we will work with NASA to develop optimized nozzle contours by leveraging our proven RDRE hardware. Venus continues to advance RDRE research and development to solve commercial, civil, and defense missions. We will first transition this flight-proven model into a reusable hypersonic flight system to meet U.S. Defense needs for high-speed flight tests. You can read more about the rest of the NASA SBIR selections here: https://lnkd.in/gv9JfffQ

Celebrating the FAA Reauthorization Act, which just became law! This important legislation ensures that our government prepares for hypersonic aviation as Venus and others in America work hard on this technology. We are honored to host Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Brian Babin, State Representative Dennis Paul and their staff at the Venus HQ. During the tour, we showcased our engine test stand, aircraft designs and hypersonic drone. Together we’re crafting the future of high speed flight! #FAA #FutureofHypersonicFlight

Thanks to Rep. Luttrell for leading the way on hypersonic priorities in Congress!   Venus Aerospace hosted Rep. Morgan Luttrell (TX-8) at our Headquarters in Houston, TX. Rep. Luttrell participated in a tour of our latest Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine (RDRE) build and our recent flight test vehicle which flew at Mach 0.9. Following the tour, Rep. Luttrell participated in a small group discussion with our employees and discussed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) priorities, support for Veterans, and how we can contribute to our local community. Venus Aerospace will keep moving forward to advance our technology and support our national security and commercial interests. Congress has just passed a landmark FAA reauthorization bill that lays the policy groundwork for the American high speed aviation industry. This is incredible for Venus and the work that we continue to do. For the next 5 years, the FAA will take steps that help companies like us build and test the next generation of high-speed aircraft. This not only achieves a commitment to ensure that the United States continues to lead the world in aviation in the years ahead, but it will help aid defense and both national and economic security. Our gratitude to Sam Graves, Maria Cantwell, Rick Larsen, Ted Cruz , Brian Babin, Mike Collins and their respective teams for their collaboration efforts to push this legislation forward.

    Representation MATTERS.

Co-Founder/CEO at Venus Aerospace | Texas Space Commission Director | Inc. Top 200 Female Founders

Honored to be on stage last week in Washington DC! This year’s #SCSPAIExpo2024 was a first of its kind event to bring together academia, government and the private sector. I discussed the “Next 100 Years of Flying” and shared the stage with incredible leaders in aviation. Yet, I’d be remiss if I didn't mention- that once again, another female approached me. She thanked me as I stepped off stage. This time it was for hearing a woman discuss “deflagration”. The woman who came up to me is a combustion engineer. She said it was the first time she'd heard another woman talk about subsonic combustion from the stage. You see- this always catches me off guard. Sometimes people approach me about our Venus Culture. Sometimes it’s just “because it’s nice to see a woman in aerospace”. And it happens every. single. time.  I'm not saying this to brag about myself. I'm saying this to encourage those who organize events to make sure you have a diverse panel. To encourage other women to step into the panel or webinar when you're asked to participate. Know that representation matters. Know that you’re making a difference. Know that young women in STEM are watching and I hope one day they’ll take the stage too.

Sarah "Sassie" Duggleby wants to build a time machine. And her Houston-based company Venus Aerospace is working on a hypersonic engine that's about as close as it gets. The hypersonic engine in Venus's Stargazer aircraft is designed to travel up to Mach 9 speeds, making it more akin to "a slow-flying rocket as opposed to a fast-flying jet," Duggleby says. Although Venus's hypersonic engine is still in development, it could wipe hours from travel if successfully rolled out for commercial use (the company is targeting 2030 for that milestone). "We should be able to do San Francisco to Tokyo in under two hours in the next five years," says Duggleby, a 2024 Inc. Female Founder. A direct flight between the two cities currently takes more than 11 hours. Read more: https://trib.al/Ae4JJTJ (Reporting by Chloe Aiello)
