Projects

  • American Community Survey Application

    -

Built a user-friendly, password-protected database application using SQL, VBA and macros in MS Access that collects economic and social characteristics of North Carolina, enables users to participate in surveys and view visualization dashboards in Power BI

  • ARIMA Forecasting

    -

•Developed a seasonal ARIMA time-series model to forecast the electricity generation in North Carolina using natural gas for the year 2022
•Performed augmented Dickey-Fuller Test to test whether the time series is stationary
•Observed an upward trend over the period of time January-July 2022
•Removed the trend with moving average (ARIMA order q=3)
•Obtained a very low mean square error (0.0083)

  • KPI Tracker using Tableau

    -

•Developed multiple dashboards to track and analyze KPIs like order profit percentage and set a benchmark to track if the business can produce at least 10% profit.
•Created data-driven alerts (emails) to be sent to the management whenever the inventory of a product reaches the reorder point.

  • PharmCo Logistics

    -

    • Analyzed existing processes within the network and explored potential cost-saving opportunities
    • Identified significant redundancies in the service coverage and tested potential supply chain network changes
    • Built a network that served 100% demand of customers, increased the profit by $0.5 million

Providence Seal Co.'s main concern was achieving delivery deadlines on a growing backlog of orders. Because of unpredictable variations in product flow, complex routings resulted in extended queueing times. The organization was impacted by scheduling, demand forecasting, machine routing, and other issues. The primary purpose of the facility was to improve product quality, efficiency, and delivery timeframes. Providence Seals Co. was under greater pressure to cut overall costs and improve delivery times due to rising global competition in its customers' markets. Following careful analysis, it was discovered that installing group technology in the plant will result in an 89 percent reduction in cycle time, allowing the facility to satisfy demand and deliver to clients on time.

When utilization exceeds 100%, it simply means that the machines are required to process more material than they are capable of handling. As a result, the production schedule should be designed in such a way that the machines can process materials without being overwhelmed. Changes in processing time distributions, setup time distributions, and reducing the amount of load to be processed in the overloaded system can all help to reduce utilization.

Following rigorous study, it was determined that installing group technology in the plant will result in an 89 percent reduction in cycle time, allowing the facility to satisfy demand and deliver to customers on time. The requirement for subcontracting has also been eliminated.

  • Three Jays Corporation (3Js)

After careful analysis of the cost computations performed by 3Js, it was found that there were inaccuracies in computing the inventory holding cost and total setup cost. Cost revision has been made and new, improved EOQ and ROP have been found.

It was found that the various costs involved in the computation of the inventory cost have not been properly considered. Although the forecasting method used by the 3Js seems logical, they did not show efficient results after knowing the actual…

Although the forecasting method used by the 3Js seems logical, they did not show efficient results after knowing the actual demand after the sales. As a result, Holt's model's Mean Square Errors in demand forecasts were calculated. After study, Holt's Model was recommended since it had the lowest Mean Square Error of all the approaches studied.

A cost analysis using various models were carried out and it showed that there is an opportunity to reduce the overall inventory cost by 22%.

Instead of the present inventory policy, the revised (Q, R) model was recommended. Because it deals with both demand variability and replenishment strategy, the (Q, R) model has the advantages of both the EOQ and base stock models.
