Actuarial Assistant, Model Analytics -- Remote | WFH

We are seeking an Actuarial Assistant to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in developing and maintaining Moody's Axis actuarial models for IFRS17 financial planning, analysis, and forecasting. The Actuarial Assistant will collaborate closely with stakeholders, ensuring all model changes and analytics are executed with excellence in quality, timing, and communication. This position supports our finance department in providing insights into our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business and financials, working closely with management to inform strategic, financial, and operational decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Moody's Axis PRT model for planning and forecasting, adhering to established standards and timelines, and documenting all changes thoroughly.
  • Conduct Plan-to-Actual comparisons, ensuring variances are understood and explained through detailed ad-hoc analysis. Identify model errors and evaluate the impact of potential business changes across various reporting metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, contributing to enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide modeling support and expertise, addressing plan-related inquiries and requests as needed.
  • Participate in the Business Plan process, develop comprehensive modeling expertise, analyze results, and effectively communicate findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Review modeling work performed by team actuaries to ensure alignment with product designs, reporting requirements, financial reinsurance deals, and modeling standards.
  • Maintain model control by documenting changes, ensuring integrity of results, and obtaining necessary validations and approvals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.

Experience/Knowledge

  • 4+ years of experience in life insurance or actuarial roles.
  • Experience with Moody's Axis for model development is required.
  • Preferred experience in pension buyout or payout annuities.
  • Familiarity with multiple accounting methods such as STAT, Tax, IFRS4, IFRS17, EC, and SII is advantageous.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Moody's Axis and Datalink.
  • Strong Excel, MS Access, and SQL skills.
  • Excellent actuarial analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborative approach with strong teamwork skills.
