Position Title: Assistant Physicist

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Assistant Physicist opportunity located in Duarte, CA .

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducting physics experiments aligned with projects associated with the clients system.
  • Performing research both independently and as part of a team to support clients projects.
  • Apply basic physics principles, theories, and concepts to solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity.
  • Assist in departmental ALARA implementations.
  • Provide clinical instruction in radiation therapy physics using the clients system.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to produce documentation and training materials (PowerPoints, Quick Reference Guides, etc.) for both Oncology Customers (Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and Radiation Therapists) and employee training programs as needed.
  • Lead, facilitate and/or serve as faculty at customer trainings in our Learning Center in Hayward, CA, virtually, and at the customer site as needed.

  • Assist in Acceptance testing and commissioning of clients system
  • Perform individual treatment planning, calculations and plan and QA reviews for physics specific components or departmental requirements.
  • Perform static and motion experiments with an in-depth analysis to include use of third-party devices
  • Provide expertise in quality assurance checks and dosimetry reviews at customer sites and at the Learning Center
  • Assist with calibration of dose and radiation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and organizational regulations for radiation safety with use of ionizing radiation as well as radioactive tracer.
  • Provide physics support and consultation to radiation oncology personnel and radiation oncologists with regard to patient care and treatment.
  • Enhance training materials periodically by generating new training aids such as Quick Guides, e-learnings, etc. with implementation of personalized learning techniques and methodologies to provide continuous learning opportunities for the customers.
  • Partner with our engineering and product teams to enhance product features and usability.
  • Engage in continuous learning within radiation oncology and be known as a reliable, trusted resource of accurate and up to date medical and scientific knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain training curriculum to enable customer efficiencies that drive ‘best of’ and ‘optimized’ use of the clients system


Job Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Physics, Health Physics, Medical Physics, Mathematics, or related equivalent discipline
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in radiation therapy field, in both the clinical and commercial environments
  • Demonstrated ability to gather content, create training presentations & present in formal training situations.
  • A passion for bringing new technology to customers through engaging training.
  • Ability to work effectively and interface as part of a diverse team including physicists, scientists, physicians and engineers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of business tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at a variety of technical levels
  • Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain client site access.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze available literature, task group reports, etc.
  • Must be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent people skills and troubleshooting capabilities required.
  • Ability to interact with customers and prospects in a professional timely manner while providing support and training.


Job Details:

  • 12 Month Contract
  • Location: Duarte, CA
  • Pay Rate Range: $35-$45 HR
