A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD AND FAMILY THERAPIST

As a Child and Family Therapist, you work within a multidisciplinary treatment team to support children needing additional support with foster care and adoption as well as treat a wide range of childhood issues, including infant mental health, positive parenting, grief, loss, divorce issues, anger issues, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and school adjustment issues. Driving throughout the community to meet with clients, you provide individual, group, and family therapy to child clients and their siblings. Additionally, you provide support and advocacy to parents, guardians, and caretakers. With attention to detail, you keep client files up-to-date and accurate. You get a great deal of satisfaction out of being able to provide early interventions that will impact people positively for the rest of their lives.

In addition, you will receive a SIGN-ON INCENTIVE OF 40 HOURS OF VACATION TIME OFF AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF YOUR 90 DAYS PROBATIONARY PERIOD, TO BE TAKEN WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.

Licensure supervision is available for LMHC, LMFT and LCSW. There are opportunities to participate in continued trainings in: play therapy, art therapy, TF-CBT, Infant Mental Health, Adoption therapy, and many more.

Qualifications For a Child And Family Therapist

  • Must have a Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicant needs to be eligible to apply for a Registered Intern license or have a license with the Florida Department of Health in the fields of Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with full-time access to a reliable vehicle (proof of vehicle insurance required)

Two years of experience and Florida licensure are preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Bilingual skills would be a plus! Do you have excellent communication skills?
