Title: Cognos Developer

Location: Albany, NY (HYBRID)

Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

Design, develop, and implement business intelligence solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics to meet the organization's reporting and analytics needs.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate business needs into technical specifications for Cognos reports and dashboards.
Develop complex Cognos reports, interactive dashboards, and scorecards using various report authoring tools within Cognos, such as Report Studio, Query Studio, and Workspace Advanced.
Create and maintain metadata models (packages) in Framework Manager, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and accuracy across Cognos reports and analyses.
Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data validation to ensure the quality and reliability of source data used in Cognos reporting solutions.
Optimize and tune Cognos reports and queries for performance and efficiency, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to improve report execution times.
Configure security settings and access controls within Cognos to manage user permissions, roles, and groups, ensuring data confidentiality and compliance with security policies.
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to Cognos reports, dashboards, and data connectivity, collaborating with IT teams and vendors as needed.
Document technical specifications, design documents, and standard operating procedures for Cognos development, deployment, and maintenance activities.
Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in business intelligence, analytics, and data visualization, continuously enhancing technical expertise and sharing knowledge with the team.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews, contributing to the iterative development and delivery of Cognos solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Cognos Developer, with at least 3-5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing business intelligence solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics.
In-depth knowledge of Cognos reporting tools, including Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, and Workspace Advanced, with the ability to create complex reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience building and maintaining metadata models (packages) in IBM Cognos Framework Manager.
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts, with experience querying and manipulating data in databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Cognos reports and queries, including query optimization techniques, index optimization, and caching strategies.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data integration tools such as IBM DataStage or Informatica is a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors.
Self-motivated and proactive attitude with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results in a remote work environment.
