What You'll Do
Ohio Department of Public Safety – Information Technology
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
Work Days and hours would vary between Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm depending on student’s schedule.
This position is a for a year-round internship, working up to a maximum of 20 hours a week (or less).
Major/field of study should be in: IT Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science
The Cyber Security Analyst Intern (or Security Analyst Intern) will work closely with the Cybersecurity Group staff while using security tools to analyze and recommend appropriate mitigations for security events and incidents. The Cyber Security Analyst Intern will be responsible for the review, reaction, and escalation of information created by those tools and alerts.

The Cyber Security Analyst Intern will be responsible for the review, reaction, and escalation of information created by those tools and alerts.
Job Duties
- Provide support to the management of Cyber Security in supporting analysis and recommendation of mitigations for events and incidents identified in tools, networks and IT assets.
- Employ industry best practices, processes, procedures, and techniques as part of daily monitoring and analysis of potential cyber security events.
- Triage SOG alerts in a timely fashion, remediate level 1 and level 2 alerts, and escalate alerts when necessary.
- Audit systems hardening, recommend necessary patching and upgrades for network components as well as applications on workstations used by staff to support those networks and on servers.
- Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and practices.
- Provide accurate and up to date supporting documentation.
- Audit authorized accesses; recommend revoking access; report violations; review monitoring information requests; recommend improvements.
- Respond to incidents, review audit log, and consult on information security issues.
- Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
- Participate in penetration tests.
- Perform vulnerability scans.
- Participate in threat hunting exercises.
- Perform maintenance and/or advanced configuration of systems in order to protect infrastructure from emerging cyber threats.
- Present Monitoring/Test Results and Reports as required.
- Execute processes to implement technical solutions to address vulnerability findings.
- Execute initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor.
