Pennington Biomedical Research Center , a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Community Engagement Program Coordinator in the LA CaTS Community Engagement & Outreach program.

The Community Engagement Program Coordinator position is located within the LA CaTS Community Engagement & Outreach (CEO) team at Pennington Biomedical. LA CaTS is a multicenter initiative that supports clinical & translational research across multiple Louisiana institutions. The mission of LA CaTS is to facilitate research focused on reducing disparities and improving health outcomes in Louisiana’s vulnerable populations. The LA CaTS CEO team works to achieve this mission by empowering community members to be involved in the research process.

We are looking for an individual with strong project management skills and community engagement experience to join our team. This individual will track and manage particularly complex projects led by members of the Pennington Biomedical Community Engagement & Outreach team and will be a direct support to help with facilitation, efficiency, reporting of progress, and identifying barriers to ensure projects stay on target.

Major Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Create and manage timelines and deliverables related to PB CEO projects.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor tasks related to PB CEO projects.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly outreach plans, monthly event calendars, and related reports designed to enhance the strategic planning efforts and effectiveness of the PB CEO team.
  • Utilize online project management tools as requested.
  • Maintain tracking of active, pending, and complete PB CEO projects.
  • Provide organizational and logistical support for the LA CaTS Baton Rouge Community Advisory Board.

Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Assist with community engagement and outreach on behalf of LA CaTS CEO.
  • Initiate and nurture relationships with stakeholders/community members to increase community support for community-engaged research.
  • Speak with community groups regarding opportunities for community-engaged research through LA CaTS..

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience and strong interest in program coordination, community engagement/outreach or related field. *See below for examples.
  • Demonstrated ability to create timelines with planned and measurable goals.
  • Ability to multi-task between projects on a day-to-day basis.
  • Travel in state as necessary to fulfill job duties.

  • Actively participating in collaborative networks or partnerships
  • Engaging with community stakeholders
  • Fostering strong relations with community members
