Competitive Intelligence Manager (Pharma/LifeScience)

The Role

The ideal manager should possess extensive experience in projects, clients, people, conflicts, and change management. They will play a crucial role in aligning deliverables with clients' business needs. Additionally, they will provide guidance and foster the professional growth of team members. Moreover, they will actively contribute to business development efforts.

The ideal candidate will

  • Successfully manage projects involving primary competitive intelligence and secondary research, ensuring that the deliverables align with project objectives.
  • Effectively handle multiple projects related to competitor monitoring and market landscape assessments.
  • Skillfully execute conference coverage, including pre-conference planning, in-conference reporting, and post-conference report development.
  • Develop and maintain project timetables, plans, expenditure plans, quality control practices, and procedures to support client deliverables. Create an execution plan with milestones, ensuring adherence and implementing a risk mitigation strategy.
  • Design and produce client-ready outputs such as market and competitive landscape reports, using the most suitable data synthesis and compelling visualization techniques to convey key messages.
  • Establish and update process protocols and delivery frameworks to enhance efficiency.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of key competitors' strategies, providing valuable insights to support clients' key business decisions.
  • Analyze and interpret research findings to develop meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Thoroughly review reports for accuracy, relevance, and coherence.
  • Deliver presentations of findings to clients onsite or through teleconference.
  • Provide effective support to senior team members during client presentations and proposal development.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects, developing appropriate methodologies based on business needs and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with and supervise external consultants/sub-contractors across various project work streams.
  • Some travel may be required (up to 20-25%).

The Person

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical consulting or competitive intelligence, ideally with some knowledge and practical experience in primary competitive intelligence research.
  • A BSc or higher degree (MSc/PhD) in a life science discipline, or relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector or consulting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical business, encompassing both commercial and clinical development perspectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research and analytical skills, coupled with strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Ideally experienced in working with pharmaceutical databases such as Citeline, Trial Trove, and Factiva, and adept at determining their appropriate application to projects.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to ensure common understanding among internal and external project teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong quality control abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, adept at time management, priority-setting, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to establish credible and strong professional relationships across different teams.
  • Demonstrated drive, ambition, and commitment to personal growth and professional advancement.

Note: Preferred candidates will be based in the East Coast
