Salary/Pay Range: $43,476 - $56,098 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Work Location: The work location for this position is on-site with hybrid options.

Summary
The Content Writer for Philanthropy and Engagement has a primary responsibility in writing and editing compelling stories and written marketing copy that advance philanthropic, stewardship and engagement initiatives for the UCCS University Advancement team. The position will create customized informative and inspiring written materials that meet philanthropic goals and help promote donor, constituent and alumni engagement. The Content Writer will be instrumental in crafting narratives that highlight UCCS’ philanthropic initiatives, engage our community, and motivate stakeholders to support the university through philanthropy and service.
This position is responsible for writing and editing content for donors, alumni and stakeholder outreach initiatives that support giving conversations, conveying the impact of philanthropy and donor stewardship.
Essential Functions
Key responsibilities for fundraising and engagement communications include:
Research, write, and edit materials in support the UCCS Advancement philanthropy and engagement priorities, including funding proposals, impact reports and stories, stewardship pieces, campaign materials, annual giving appeals, digital content and other communications focused on philanthropy and engagement as needed.
Write and edit marketing copy for priority events and initiatives. Involves writing scripts for leadership members for key engagement and philanthropic events.
Develop individualized communications at the major gift and annual giving levels, inspiring continued or new philanthropy efforts.
Write and edits stories of impact featuring UCCS student scholars, donors, alumni and other constituents to support donor relations strategic objectives.
Describe complex academic matters in clear, persuasive language and present concise rationale for philanthropy and engagement.
Support and contribute to website content development and updates for webpages supported by the Alumni, Donor Relations and Development teams.
Collaborate with communications team to publish impact articles in the UCCS newsletter, Communique.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in content creation and philanthropy to continuously improve content quality and effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (A combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Experience: One of more years work experience as professional content writer supporting clients.
Experience with database management software and CRM programming (Ascend and Salesforce preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working 1-2 years within a philanthropic and engagement team supporting design initiatives – writing donor appeals, annual impact reports, donor proposals, alumni outreach materials, and donor stewardship materials.
Project management experience
Content design experience
Experience on an Agile team (project management framework) and use of project management software like Trello.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks will involve looking at a computer continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. In accordance with Campus Policy 300-012, this salary is supported by the following independent analysis conducted by Human Resources.
