The Psychiatrist and or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work with youth and adolescent clients at NYFS outpatient clinic, a mission-driven non-profit organization that provides clinical care for adult clients throughout the lifespan. Responsibilities:
Provides a full range of psychiatric care in a primarily youth and adolescent, outpatient community mental health setting including diagnosis and assessment, consultation, medication prescription and education.
Committed to working in a culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based, and developmentally appropriate care.
Committed to an integrated model of care within a multi-professional and collaborative clinic.
Attends monthly meetings with clinical staff and trainees in a case-consultation format
Maintains current documentation/orders in electronic notes and provides reports as required
Provides concurrent billing information for client-based care
Engages in collaborative community care, engages in outreach, and works with other agencies in support of the holistic health needs psychiatry patients
Required Qualifications:
Possession of a nurse practitioner license for psychiatry
Experience as a nurse practitioner in a mental health setting
Must have or be able to obtain an unrestricted Minnesota Nurse Practitioner License
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of psychiatry
Knowledge of current theories and practices in the field of mental health especially psychotherapy and relational models of care
Knowledge of medications and their effects on physical and psychological disorders
Knowledge of the organization and operation of a nonprofit community mental health clinic
Knowledge of research methods and techniques
Ability to diagnose and treat mental illness in relation to physical conditions
Effectively support adults with serious and persistent mental health concerns
Ability to prescribe appropriate medications for the treatment of psychiatric disorders
Ability to engage effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to prepare and review diagnostic reports
Ability to maintain electronic health records, prepare reports and correspondence
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Experience working in Minnesota
Previous psychotherapy training and experience
Chemical dependency/substance use disorder experience
Fluency in other languages a plus, but not required
Timeframe: Position is to start in July 2024.
