Job Summary:


The Corporate Director of Safety will support Titan America’s unprecedented growth by leading a team of health and safety professionals, covering approximately 100 cement, aggregate, ash, ready-mix concrete, block, land/sea terminal, and administrative sites along the eastern seaboard. He or she will support the advancement of an already strong culture of health and safety at Titan America.


The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations. If you have a proven track record in health and safety management, specifically in MSHA-regulated environments, and are passionate about creating a safe work environment, we invite you to apply for this challenging and rewarding position.

As the Corporate Director of Safety, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the health and safety function within our organization. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an overall health and safety strategy aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Establish and promote a safety culture throughout the organization, fostering an environment of continuous improvement in H&S performance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of MSHA regulations and standards applicable to the industry.
  • Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to management and employees to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and oversee regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust health and safety programs, policies, and procedures that effectively mitigate workplace risks and hazards.
  • Continually monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, recommending enhancements and innovations where necessary.
  • Provide expert guidance and direction to site managers and supervisors, ensuring consistent adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Lead and oversee investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and developing preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with senior management and employees to identify and assess potential hazards, implementing risk management strategies to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, injuries, and safety-related data, analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement.


Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver high impact health and safety training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engaging and interactive training materials, leveraging digital platforms and tools to enhance effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
  • Foster positive relationships with regulatory agencies, MSHA representatives, and other external stakeholders to address health and safety concerns and proactively seeking opportunities for collaboration
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee and ensure the organization's compliance with all relevant environmental laws and regulations.
  • Principal monitor for potential legislative or agency regulatory changes at the federal, State and local levels that would impact operations and create summaries for senior management of the proposed changes.
  • Lead the internal discussion around regulatory changes and environmental challenges facing the company, to develop and implement appropriate strategies to address potential impacts on the company.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive environmental compliance programs and regularly assess and update compliance procedures to adapt to changing regulations.


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in health and safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Professional certification in health and safety management or related field is highly desirable.
