Correctional Behavioral Specialist I-Maury CI

Description Of Work

This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution. The Correctional Behavioral Specialist I (CBSI) duties include data entry, collection, and making and reporting clinical impressions of inmates during assessment or in daily activities on Residential Mental health or infirmary unit. This position may assist in group or individual supportive counseling in groups such as arts and crafts, leisure activities, horticulture, and quilting. This position may be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming. Employee may set up testing situations in diagnostic center and in monitoring inmates as they work on treatment goals. Position and may also assist in aftercare planning under the direction of a clinical social worker. Employee's supportive counseling role includes use of crisis intervention techniques and referral to treatment staff as required.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .

NC Department Of Adult Correction (DAC)

The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological and social assessments and treatment plans.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor s degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Note: Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
