    • So the ideal candidate will almost certainly be somebody who has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with people in the front office vs somebody who’s spent their career in IT organizations.
In search of an experienced and driven data management and business intelligence consultant to support a range of data and reporting priorities for a dynamic and rapidly-growing Investment & Corporate Banking Division of a large financial institution. This role sits within the Chief Operating Officer’s (COO’s) organization (front office) and will be responsible for managing the Division’s data framework and driving automation efforts, working in close partnership with business stakeholders, the COO’s reporting team, and the technology organization.

The Data Management And Business Intelligence Consultant Will

  • Enable and support the Client’s ability to make informed and data-driven decisions by serving as the in-house expert for data mining, data processing, reconciliation and analysis
  • Help drive and implement a strategic data framework and solution working with IT to define, build and test automated solutions
  • Research, recommend and execute tactical approaches for improving management’s access to analytics, including self-service methods, in parallel with implementation of any strategic platforms
  • Responsible for understanding the use of data across multiple systems and departments, identify the trends and patterns to improve business operations efficiency
  • Lead aspects of data management; maintain and ensure the data integrity of client records included in our CRM (Salesforce) and Client data warehouse
  • Maintain and monitor daily data feed, and verify the accuracy of customer, facility and deal data
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and critical thinking by taking the initiative to explore Client data independently and rigorously in order to expose underlying trends, performance drivers, and emerging issues
  • Develop and maintain controls that ensure accuracy, consistency and detail of management reporting data
  • Assisting with the rollout and implementation of Power BI across COO team.
  • Design and develop business requirements to build financial reports and dashboard visualizations in Power BI Requirements

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, computer science, information systems or engineering
  • Foundational requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database including coding and reading
  • Expertise reading and writing macros
  • Experienced in troubleshooting database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, mapping problems, and data integrity issues
  • Good understanding of data architecture and data transformation
  • Power BI data visualization experience is a plus
  • Proven experience in data entry, data quality assurance, or similar, working with large and complex data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail, quantitative skills, and commitment to data accuracy
  • Expertise in the design, creation, management of business application including data warehouse, performance metrics and dashboards
  • Proficiency in data science, data analytics and business intelligence including visualization techniques
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with the following:
  • Advanced MS Word / Excel (including nested formulas, macros, pivot tables, look-ups and VBA), SQL and Power BI
  • Relational databases, online analytical processing (OLAP) tools, data mining, database queries, stored procedure writing
  • SQL server integration services (SSIS), analysis services (SSAS), development is a plus
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Qlik, PowerBI, Dealogic, Capital IQ and SAS
  • Working knowledge of investment and corporate banking and capital market products is a plus
  • Customer service orientation and passion for helping business stakeholders define metrics to assess and drive performance
  • Motivated self-starter and team player who can navigate ambiguity effectively and drive decisions and change through influence and persuasion
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency in meeting challenging deadlines and achieving goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as top-notch analytical and problem-solving skills
