As the Director of Purchasing, you will play an integral role in optimizing our efficiency and reducing costs by streamlining our supply chain operations, maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and maintaining The Siegel Group’s standards of high quality. This role is responsible for procuring furniture, FF&E, appliances, signage, and other similar items for both furnished and unfurnished multi-family residential apartment buildings. Additionally, this role is responsible for the procurement of construction supplies and materials for building renovations, capital expenditures and new build projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company’s objectives and growth plans.
- Foster relationships with current vendors while identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing and contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the company.
- Be the key contact for suppliers and own the purchasing process from start to finish – from request for quotes to the receipt of the order.
- Process requests for quotes and requests for the purchase of services, supplies, equipment and materials. Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and ensure timely delivery of all products.
- Ensure requisitions are adequately approved and that variance between approved amounts and actual cost is communicated to the respective parties prior to incurring the expense.
- Resolve discrepancies and disputes regarding pricing, payment, quality, backorders, substitutions, deliveries, and vendor’s issues and communicate any issues to the appropriate internal parties.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics and reports to track performance, vendor delivery time and quality, and to assist the company in making informed decisions.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to anticipate supply chain challenges and opportunities.
- Analyze and optimize purchasing processes, driving continuous improvement and cost savings.

Requirements:
- Seven (7) or more years of experience buying/sourcing, locally nationally and overseas everything from small maintenance items, furniture, appliances, flooring, machinery, construction materials and sourcing vendors (landscapers, pest control, glass companies, roofers, plumbers, freight companies etc.) for hotel or apartment building needs.
- Purchasing certifications such as C.P.M., C.O.O.O., or C.P.P.B. is desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Construction Management, or Finance strongly preferred.
- Procurement industry experience with configuration management tools preferred; experience with utilizing and maintaining purchasing systems.
- Knowledge on ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and core processes (Procure to Pay, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable) required.
- Experience processing, filtering, and formatting large quantities of data.
- Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and cognitive problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team, independently, and maintain positive vendor relations.
