Expeditor (Logisitics)

KEY ROLE:


Under the general supervision of the Logistics Manager, the Expeditors perform a wide range of warehousing and expediting activities ensure the efficient movement of materials, equipment and supplies between Anchorage and the remote sites and maintain the shipping and receiving warehouse


 


 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 



  • Load and unload materials on and off freight vans or other vehicles by hand, hand truck, forklift or dolly.



  • Receive purchased materials and other materials for shipment, inspect for accuracy and organize shipments of materials to remote sites based on customer needs.



  • Utilize Company information management systems (AIMS) in the receipt, shipment, and delivery of material, records, mail and/or equipment.



  • Store, stack or palletize materials,



  • Organize and take inventory of stored materials and consolidate site and project materials in designated area.



  • Package and hazardous materials follingin regulation guidelines as well as orchestrate the movement of hazardous cargo and/or materials with the assistance of the Environmental Department to certify requests to ship hazardous materials. Notify Transportation Management Office (TMO) and commercial airlines of hazardous material shipments and adhere to ITAR regulations.



  • Coordinate with Engineers, project leads to consolidate Over And Above project materials in preparation for shipment.



  • Contact vendors to follow up on overdue deliveries. Evaluate vendor performance and provide feedback to Management to facilitate proactive continuous process improvement. Collaborate with Buyers -- the Buyer will contact the vendor on late delivery -- and also vendor performance.



  • Identify cores to requestor to facilitate return process and track return shipments with associated cores to ensure timely returns of cores to the vendor for credit.



  • Maintain a suspense file of POs, shipping and receipt documents for each order until order is complete.



  • Plan and monitor transportation requirements with TMO and Aerial Port Squadron (APS)



  • Complete necessary documentation on all shipments to include; air waybill, bill of lading, DD Form 1149, letter of justification for priority shipment and any other paperwork required for a specific shipment. Monitor all shipments to ensure that the shipment arrives at the required destination, on schedule.



  • Proactively plan and coordinate work activities with all affected parties and remote sites to meet outcomes beneficial to the customer and project needs
