JOB SUMMARY: UPL is seeking an experienced Government Affairs & Industry Relations leader to be responsible for engagement with US Federal and State government, grower organizations and industry/trade associations to influence outcomes affecting the UPL NA business as well as support policy and legislative activities through industry partnerships. UPL is looking for someone local to Raleigh or Cary NC but open to a remote candidate for the right background.

Job Responsibilites

  • Develop, own, and implement UPL Government Affairs and Industry Relations strategies to advance strategic business objectives.
  • Serve as primary focal point to build & foster key interactions with US Federal and State government officials, ensuring UPL inputs on US agriculture policy is provided.
  • Shape, lead & advance US regulatory policy & advocacy efforts of interest to UPL in enabling US grower access to innovative technologies.
  • Serve as a UPL NA representative in industry associations, such as Crop Life America, and grower organizations and ensure UPL is fully updated on US agriculture policy trends and its impact to business; active voice for UPL within assigned committees and working groups.
  • Advises marketing, regulatory and technology development on policy strategies & impact on business case assumptions.
  • Monitors and advises on key emerging regulatory policy and legislative trends and challenges that may impact UPL business.
  • Ensures alignment with internal Global Public and Government Affairs Network on molecule defense and strategic objectives.
  • Meet regularly with regulatory teams and work with US Federal and State regulatory managers closely to understand regulatory strategies and advises molecule project teams.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in an agriculture related industry with a proven track record.
  • Regulatory experience with US federal and state government interaction as well experience interacting with the EPA needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively within a highly matrixed organization and regulated business environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to lead and collaborate across boundaries and different functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
